Sword of Omens (Thundercats) ? Probably the most iconic sword in all of animation, period. Beautiful. Deadly. Wielded by Lion-O, Lord of the Thundercats, this mystical sword gave him ?sight beyond sight?, could extend in size, and summon the other Thundercats when needed. It also had a mind of its own at times, like when it wouldn?t let itself be unsheathed when Lion-O was about to do something stupid with it. In one episode, the evil Lunatic, Tugg-Mugg BROKE IT IN HALF!!! Eventually, Bengali, the white tiger weaponsmith and his mystic hammer was able to repair the Sword of Omens.
Thundercutter (Thundercats) ? Hachiman, the honorable samurai was tricked by Mumm-ra to fight Lion-O. He wielded the Thundercutter, which was a very powerful kitana blade. If I remember correctly, it defeated the Sword of Omens by stabbing the Eye of Thundera.
Sword of Plundarr (Thundercats) ? Mumm-Ra?s two-bladed sword. He could twirl it with the skill of a cheerleader. A very UGLY cheerleader. Very powerful. I don?t remember too much about it, except that it gave Lion-O and the rest of the Thundercats fits!
Sacred Blade (Samurai Jack) ? A mighty sword. Could cut through anything. Not sure of its exact name. Its sole purpose was to vanquish the evil of Aku. Similar to the Sword of Omens in the sense that it wouldn?t allow Jack to hurt something that was not evil.
Sword of Righteousness (Earthworm Jim) ? This enchanted talking sword claimed to be the trainer of heroes, and it?s got a cool name?.that?s all I got. (I hope that?s enough of an explanation)
Star Sword/Power Sword (Blackstar) ? They?re one sword, split in half?the bad guy had the Power Sword, and Blackstar had the Star Sword. Pretty cool concept, in my opinion. That is, the main hero and the main villain each having a piece of the same weapon.
Sword of Power (He-Man) ? He-Man?s Sword of Power, or Power Sword, or the sharp, magical thing he uses to beat Skeletor & co. with. Whatever he called it, it?s an iconic sword of the 80?s that was uber cool. Nothing less for the "most powerful man in the universe". I personally liked its design in the 2002 series more than the original 1983 incarnation.
Jedi Lightsaber (Clone Wars) - Anakin's, Obi Wan's, Yoda's, or Mace's, take your pick. They all could render an army of droids to ribbons in a matter of seconds.
Feel free to discuss. Or not. The only anime swords I could think of are Voltron's gigantic sword, and Kenshin's reverse blade.
