Bags are painted and installed. It was too dark out tonight to take any pics but I will post some soon. Now for my evaluation. The bags were shipped quickly and well packaged. The primer was heavy in a couple of spots causing some sagging/orange peel. No big deal just a little more sanding. Honestly I'd rather have it a bit thick then light. There were some pin holes in the primer too but again just a little more sanding. Before I painted I mocked them up on the bike. To start my mock up I trimmed the carpet to install the rubber grommets for the mounting pins. I used a 3/8 carriage bolt turned up side down to center it in the holes prior to trimming. I then traced around the head of the bolt with my soldering gun melting the carpet away. It worked great with a perfectly round hole. The grommets fit in nice and against the fiberglass back instead of against the carpet. I then heated up a tapered punch and from the back side pushed the hot punch thru the mounting holes for the latches and catches. Again worked great melting the carpet for a nice finished looking hole for the screws to go thru. I put the bags on and everything lined up nice. I didn't at this time put any of the hardware on. I painted my own bags and they look beautiful. Tonight I started assembling them. All the holes and HD hardware I took off the old bags lined up perfect. I have found in the past most aftermarket stuff usually requires tweeking. Not these. Everything was dead nuts on. I stood back and looked at the alignment of the cut outs and the bottom edge. I have an 09 Street Glide and damn it lined up great. I am very impressed with the bags looks and their quality. If anyone is worried about these bags........don't be. Top Shop has done their homework on quality and fitment. Good job guys!
