Top Of The Pops 2: School Days

Too diverse a content to appeal to any particular age enough for them to watch the whole programme.

Still, it's typical of the BBC "suits," getting more out of touch the more they get paid.

So this justifies being "out of touch" then?

Whatever the "rate" it's obviously far too high.

Anyway "market rate" is the way the BBC try to justify every criticism of the high salaries paid by a public service broadcaster and how can you justify a "market rate" for so many jobs that don't even exist with other broadcasters?

But I'm sure you can.

Just trying to provide some context.

Woe betide anyone who stumbles upon this thread, sees your words and thinks that BBC salaries are the highest in the media sector.

Remember, some people only get their information from right wing tabloids, and from DS!

So, content is important for an INFORMED debate.

And the market rate is set by the commercial sector on the whole - as they pay more for equivalent jobs.

Market rate?

There's no "market rate" now, commercial TV companies are shedding staff.

The BBC still go on about this when criticised over pay as if they either hadn't heard of, or were excluded from the recession, I s'pose with a guaranteed income, they think they are.

Even the BBC now are grudgingly admitting their pay is too high and there's too many of them, they need to cut costs to cope with the fixing of the licence fee for the next three years.

Whatever they're paid, whoever thought combining music of different eras would have a wide appeal, got it wrong.

Still, it was "cheap TV" the BBC are to be congratulated for finding ever more excuses for putting rubbish on our screens.

Not when there's no "market."

Commercial TV companies are shedding staff and there's certainly no "market rate" for the many jobs at the BBC that exist in no other network.
When it comes to "management" they've more layers than an onion.

Why do so many people fall for the "hype" that the BBC create themselves?

The Panorama programme last week on "high earners" compared with the Prime Minister, was just like a BBC "Points of View" programme when it came to questioning one of their staff, who obviously as in the POV programme, had pre-notice of the questions and then probably only answered those she felt like answering (typical of POV).
I guess we were supposed to feel sorry for her when she said she'd taken a

There definitely IS a market rate, it's set by the commercial sector as they usually pay more than the BBC do, which then edges up BBC salaries.

Please listen for once, there IS a market rate.

The "commercial sector?"

You're making me laugh, (again).

You're using the BBC's constant excuse for overpaying so many staff. But they never provide the evidence, they're still desperately trying to conceal what they pay their employees. If there were a "market rate" it would be freely available.

Stop using buzzwords that mean nothing.
There's no commercial rate for so many jobs that don't exist outside the BBC's organisation. There are also many jobs within TV companies which don't have exactly the same responsibilities. So how can they be compared?

Commercial TV companies aren't hiring.

You'll never change my, or many of the public's opinion, so I don't know why you bother.
You don't even work for the BBC, so why should you care.

Just don't want a load of rubbish written about anything.

There IS a market rate in the media.

FACT!

And it IS freely available, apply for a job!

And commercial companies most definiitely ARE hiring, I hired someone only two weeks ago to help with some freelance work.

Is it on Iplayer? I missed some of it :(
That 70's cover of (What A) Wonderful World may as well have been the guy doing karaoke, it was so similar to Sam Cooke's classic.

Eh? I always thought the full title is "Hit Me Baby One More Time", I assumed it was just called Baby One More Time by announcers for convenience.

Yes, I agree.

"Off topic, old hat and proved nothing."

How many time are you gonna link that Jake Humphries video again?

He's not the only presenter on TV.

"Anyone can present?"

Yes, as I said at the time; "as long as they remember their lines and don't bump into the furniture" and they manage; comedians, actors, sports personalities, former pop singers, fashion models etc., you name it, they've done it, the list is endless and grows every day.

I'd suggest, you need to spend less time on message boards, watch more television and fewer old YouTube clips.
Then you'd see the truth and possibly not drag in unrelated comment, let's move on, please..
