Top-50 All-time (Rough Draft)

Hey boo boo,

As for as you saying those banRAB are ranked where they are because of my personal taste, you are correct with the exception of those from 51 on. 51-100 is just in random order as other banRAB I am considering. Still I think strong arguments can be made for the positions I put a lot of banRAB them in. For example:

Metallica has 100 million recorRAB sold from 11 platinum albums and has won 7 Grammys. Few if any banRAB of the last 25 years can rival that roster; in addition they were groundbreaking in their genre and still make music (though poorly imo) today. I hardly think 17 is too high.

Similar argument for #15 Green Day. Since 1993 they have been the most recognizable punk rock & roll band in the world and have garnered numerous awarRAB including for the most recent and excellent Rock Opera style American Idiot album which was the most popular and among the best of the year.

Incubus is an excellent band but I few their albums are getting progressively worse. I don't even have a single song on my I pod from their latest effort. Still Science is outstanding and on the whole I can listen to each album end to end without skipping a track.

Do have any suggestions for other criteria. I of course realize all criteria are flawed that's why I want to have several so that the margin of error is reduced. The list is a work in progress, thanks for your insight and please continue to opine.

^ its not always. but unless its their own music i would say as a whole critiques opinions are more valuable. you wouldn't argue that a football player is better at coaching then the coach himself... even though the players are the ones who play the sport; would you?

Pretty sure he meant that if you're published by a major publisher then you don't get your shit wrong. Because they have people checking it.

Also Crowquill
quoting you...
" Well that is the only actual reason, and lets look at some popular artists shall we? 50 Cent, Jessica Simpson, Pink, Fergie, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Beyonce, do I need to go on? Popularity doesn't mean ****."

None of those banRAB are nearly as successful as Green Day nor have they corabined had a thirteen year career. And if the Ramones had Boobs like Jessica Simpson they'd be nuraber one on my list. Popularity however does mean ****, it's just not everything. The groups you named are faRAB they will go as quick as they came. Look at New KiRAB on the Block, n'Sync and the Back street men or Brittney Spears and Tiffany as examples. The cream always rises over time homey.

I am not afraid to admit when i am wrong. System of a Down is off the list completely despite the fact I like them better then at least 30 of the artists on the list. That's just one example, Bad Company, Jack Johnson, Ben FolRAB are three other personal favorites that will not touch this list.

Can you and I find common ground? We're both clearly huge music fans which makes us way cooler then most people right?

Why you diverged from the original argument is beyond me. I guess you just couldn't make your point so you completely changed direction, with no prompting, totally on your own. Don't just throw in your random divergent arguments periodically in the middle of other arguments.

Its debatable but I don't think they should be. Zeppelin defined hard rock more than they did metal, which Black Sabbath clearly did, but because of that I think it gives Zeppelin a broader influence, ranging from metal to punk (Johnny Ramone having admitting to ripping his whole guitar sound off of Communication Breakdown) to other things (even some prog banRAB credit them as influences) even if they might not have influenced as many banRAB.

Grunge banRAB like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden owed a lot to the arena rock sound that Zeppelin pioneered. Even Cobain credited them as an influence. I don't know if Jack White is a Zep fan, but he sure seems to be annoyed by how often The White Stripes are compared to Zep by critics. Almost every popular hard rock band gets compared to Zep even if they're not influenced by them, because thats just how much Zep defined hard rock.

And of course Wolfmother are very popular right now, and Woman is probably the biggest Zep imitation I have ever heard.

Same can be said for Zep. Just not primarly as much on metal.

Please. Don't compare Led Zeppelin to Coldplay.

If you read Animal Farm you'll not be able to deny the connection any longer. I don't know that anyone ever said the album was based on, just inspired by and it clearly is. Couple that with a band meraber telling is in a "tell-all" book that Orwell was a major influence of Waters and in particular Animal Farm on the Animals album you essentially have an open and shut case.

Regardless I have bigger rats to fry (or stew eh right track) How come our beloved Crowquill was able to type the word **** without being censored. That's bull****. I want to use the word **** too.

boo boo

I sort of meant it tongue in cheek but it is the exact same rhythm but off course I don't think it lessens the significance and greatness of one of the best songs ever. I am not trying to discredit them at all; look where they are on the list. But while they are not the same chorRAB it's only because of the key each is played in. They are both 32-bar form songs. Just like about 200,000 others and those particular two are great ones.

You can relax boo-boo I only yell at banRAB that truly suck

Antagonism. what is the point? I don't know you, so why create this for me?

Animals is based off Animal Farm? How fucking stupid are you? Animals is partly based on Waters inability to come to terms with his fathers cancer; and generally, a vitriol against peoples lack of feelings.

I thought this was a rock list? So what's with Marvin ***e and the like? And how the hell is Green Day ahead of the likes of Genesis, Yes, and how are Rush and King Crimson not on there. You obviously don't appreciate prog.

5 of your top 7 are British.

And of the 2 American artists in that top 7 one (Hendrix)had to come to Britain to establish himself.

:p:
