Top 5 Of Anything (Musically)

Add Rush to my list as well, though I like their first album. Everything else just sounded too Proggy for my tastes.. I've heard about 3 albums though. But meh, never given them lots of listens.

Oh, and the Collective are great. Bit overhyped by these "hipster" creatures I keep hearing about, but they're a top notch band.

Metallica and Springsteen, don't bother.

Really, it's just attention to detail. I can understand it as a massively difficult craft in the pre-digital era when it was cutting up tape. But, I mean, in this day and age all it takes is the time, the hardware, and the software. Have a nice enough soundcard setup to facilitate recording/rendering of high quality audio, and I guarantee you it's probably, in the end, a lot easier than you're led to believe.

If you like Skylarking check out The Big Express or Mummer, which are similar in style. I love their earlier stuff, which is decidedly harsher -I absolutely love Go 2, Drums and Wires and Black Sea. If you want a sort-of happy medium check out English Settlement

Haven't listened that much to things like Nonsuch or Oranges and Lemons but I have them sitting here ready for listen as I've heard great things
