Top 5 Greatest Frontmen of All-Time

Iggy Pop
Ozzy Osbourne
Robert Plant
Morrissey
Bruce Dickinson

However Henry Rollins, Mick Jagger and John Lydon were just edged out. And I probably forgot some obvious choices.

I always thought of him as being an arrogant prick with a bad band, I don't really hate him, I just don't care about them. I used to know a girl who was obsessed with Pritchard though, I never understood why :(

I like Pearl Jam, it's just that with a song like...let's say Yellow Ledbetter, great song, but you must have one good ear if you can understand word for word.

But hey, it's still a good song.

Some might call my list generic, but I believe:

1. Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin
2. John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) - Sex Pistols, PiL
3. Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
4. HR - Bad Brains
5. Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins

Ozzy
Dee Snider
Rob Halford
Zakk Wylde for BLS
Angus Young (even though he isn't technically a front man, he could be easily)

I think most vocalists are like that. You can catch a few lines here and there, but you're going to need a lyrics sheet to understand it all.

I think Vedder is one of the greatest vocalists from the post 90`s era and the rest of the band great musicians as well, problem is....they have always been contented to either churn out songs that sound half finished, sound that they are from a jamming session or as stated a lot of the middle of the road rock material................its all just a waste really, considering how high they are regarded especially amongst their very loyal followers.

Fun fact:That song was written and recorded in 20 minutes.

The song is about Vedder's biological father, who he never really got to know. It's an incredibly emotional song.

"Oh, dear dad, can you see me now. I am myself, like you somehow."
Fantastic line.

"I'll ride the wave where it takes me
I'll hold the pain
Release me"

Have you heard his delivery of these lyrics? It almost gives me goosebumps.

I've never thought of Thurston Moore as a frontman in a classic rock sense, because when I think of him I always think of Lee Ranaldo as well and their awesome guitar duels. I don't think Sonic Youth has a classic frontman, because if Thurston is one, then so is Kim Gordon. And to me, she's the most charismatic meraber of Sonic Youth.
