Top 25 Manga Properties Q1 2009

viz media mostly dominated this list. One piece is still on here come viz speed it up. good to see del ray got some on there

It's interesting that Tsubasa is in the top ten whereas xxxHolic doesn't place on the list. While it's not necessarily essential, quite a few fans aren't getting the complete crossover experience that way. Context is good!

Yeah, I was surprised by that too with only one new Yu-Gi-Oh! volume coming out a year. But I guess that explains why GX is still in U.S. Shonen Jump and why we're getting Yu-Gi-Oh! R so quickly.

Hmm...so three of the top ten titles are of the vampire genre? Twilight strikes again...

I was also surprised to see Yu-Gi-Oh! on the list since GX does only have one new volume once a year due to how it is a monthly manga in Japan. It's nice that it does sell that well, especially since we get Yu-Gi-Oh! R in the fall. I was actually expecting Pokemon to be on the list too since it usually seems to, despite how it releases new volumes a bit more often than GX does. They might sell some more in the second quarter since Viz finally started re-releasing Pokemon Adventures earlier this month.

Naruto....Garrrrrrr. Someday, someday.

Well, at least One Piece's still kicking.

Though, I do wish someday an OEL Manga series will be at least in the top 10 list.

"One Piece" will certainly have a hard time getting in the Top 10 since it hasn't been particularly successful on television, but more importantly if VIZ keeps releasing so slowly and stays so behind the Japanese release we can't expect sales to get any better.

Original English Language (OEL)
It's manga being made outside from Japan. America are not the only doing this style. So far (I know), OEL Manga are growing...Slowly.

A perfect OEL Manga you should read is “rabQ”! This manga change my life....Well, my dreams at least. Read it, it's good. Oh the guy that made “rabQ” is in Japan making another manga call “Peepo Choo”.

Sadly, not many OEL Manga have a huge series. Most gose up to 3 volumes. Others “Rarely” even past 4 volumes. I think the highest on is 7 volumes. The series doesn't get cancel or anything, but it's hard work.

And also sad, some Hard-core manga/anime fans won't read OEL Manga, because it didn't came out in Japan. Man, some Manga fans are so hardheaded.

But I know someday OEL Manga will be big....Someday....Someday.

Part of One Piece's problem is that Toei regarRAB the North American market as too unstable right now. They're not willing to market it as aggressively as they could.

No Gintama or Yakitate? Oh well.

And I can't believe people actually bought those Phoenix Wright books. While the games are absolutely superb, the manga is just a series of short, terrible comedy skits.
