There are some essential suggestions in Wayfarer's list, (imo of course) these being a few of them:

The funny thing is, Slint are reputed to be one of the biggest post-rock influences along with Talk Talk, but that album is definitely (disturbing, creepy) rock. Likewise rabV were the defining band in the shoegaze-era, yet were more influenced by Sonic Youth than any dream-pop or arabient band. There's no way at least one of Joy Division's albums can't be included in the list and I reckon a Wire album should be in there too.

And how about some Sabbath (probably Paranoid)?

1. Rise Against

2. Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
Ozzy Osbourne - Black Rain (although i like his old stuff better)

3. Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine

4. Alexisonfire - Crisis

5. Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

6. Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death

7. Audioslave - Out of Exile

8. Megadeth - United Abominations

9. Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos

10. Thrice - Vheissu

11. Tool - 10000 Days

12. Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists

13. Green Day - Dookie

14. Hawthorne Heights - If Only You Were Lonely

15. Atreyu - A Death Grip On Yesterday

wow....only 15 =/

I've always thought King Crimson's Red was better than ITCOTCK, but the latter would win on importance/influence. I think Boo Boo would agree with me and I'm not the first one to consider Starless their finest moment. Both are great albums though.

I reckon Low is Bowie's best album, as does Urban. But it's completely down to opinion, and Bowie fans tend to have widely differing opinions on his best albums.

I'll suggest some more tomorrow.

my 2c:

Appetite for Destruction.. by Guns N' Roses
Nevermind.. by Nirvana
The Colour and the Shape.. by Foo Fighters
Dysfunction.. by StainD
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.. by Smashing Pumpkins
Core.. by Stone Temple Pilots
Purple.. by Stone Temple Pilots

Let's not forget Wishbone Ash's Argus.

There's also a huge lack of Jethro Tull, add Aqualung and Thick As A Brick and we might start to have a semi-respectable list.

I have only heard the one King Crimson album, so of course I will add them. My list is only rough and most of it will be removed. I'm torn between three Bowie albums personally-STATION TO STATION, LOW and HEROES. My opinion is always changing on which is my favourite.

not my favorite 5, but definitely worthy of a top of all time list:

1. Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris
2. Cynic - Focus
3. Gorguts - Obscura
4. Death - Individual Thought Patterns
5. In Flames - The Jester Race

Can it get more classic? Probably not.

Marked with an X I would'nt class as rock, there is punk, indie and alternative going on with those. Of course If many people say I'm wrong then i will add them. It's a great list though.

Updated. Come on people more to add, what to take away. Even noobs can help! When we finally compile the 100 then it will be presented as the music banter top 100 and each album can be reviewed by different posters. So get first dibs in!
