In terms of who had the most fucked up death in pop music I'd have to go with 1950s R&B star Johnny Ace. Backstage in between sets at one of his shows he was drunk and playing around with a pistol that he thought had no bullets in it. To prove to the frightened people in the room that it wasn't loaded, he pointed it at his head and pulled the trigger. Spoken with a smile, his last worRAB were, "It’s OK! Gun’s not loaded…see?"
