I'm a hiphop guy, used to be a Nirvana/Zeppelin head back in the day until I turned 16, and I just gave up all that **** because it was a depressing time in my life. Anyways here's my banRAB in no order:

Nirvana
Led Zep
Guns N Roses
The Beatles
Limp Bizkit
RATM
Modest Mouse
Radiohead
Korn
Pink Floyd

1. Smashing Pumpkins
2. Biffy Clyro
3. The Cure
4. AFI
5. Pearl Jam
6. Pixies
7. Placebo
8. Nine Inch Nails
9. Iron Maiden
10. Pink Floyd

But at least Kevin Cronin doesn`t murable when he sings, REM maybe a world away creatively from REO but I`d much rather listen to the mid west rock sound of REO most of the time.

Muse - few decent riRAB but nothing worth mentioning.
Radiohead - bore me.
Adagio - never heard of them.
Symphony X - despise them and their cheesy ****e with a passion.
Angra - you've lost me.
Kamelot - still no clue.
Pagan's Mind - nope, im gone.
Liquid Tension Experiment - you think i have an archive of music on my pc i'd have heard half of these.
Circus Maximus - nope.
Dream Theater - guitar wankage.

in no particular order and based on influence and personal preference, here are some of my faves/those who are most influential(in my opinion!).....

The Rolling Stones
The Pixies
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
The Velvet Underground
The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix

I think anybody would be very hard pressed to find a group out there that sounded as good as they did when the more or less started (an impossibility for many as they got old, I know) but as you say commercialism and earning money, largely takeover from the creative element in favour of dishing out stuff that they know will probably sell.

In fact the only group that I can think of, that sound as good as when they first started is Dream Theater (hahaha just had to stick that one in as I know they have many fans on this forum:tramp:)
