Post your top 10! But you gotta give reasons....

OK, it's two months early, but excepting last minute surprises...

10.Star Trek (2009)
Dir JJ Abrams, Scr Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman
Blockbusters have been ruined by a combination of pandering to comic book geeks who never grew up, and coroporate suits. Star Trek is the only great and proper-fun live-action blockbuster of the decade. Just like Grandma used to make, only swisher.

9. The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
Dir Walter Salles, Scr Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, Alberto Granado, Jose Rivera
Mesmerising film that pulls a spectacular trick - nailing an icon as a very ordinary person, then somehow leaving you with the impression he was anything but. Fascinating, thought provoking and engrossing, with a classic score too.

8. Wall E (2008)
Dir Andrew Stanton, Scr Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Jim Reardon
It may never top its first 20 minutes, which is some of the greatest cinema ever made, but it never slips below excellent either. A very smart and entertaining satire.

7. Up (2009)
Dir Pete Docter, Bob Peterson, Scr Pete Docter, Bob Peterson
More heart in a terraflop of pixels than is conceivable. Has a 5-minute sequence near the beginning that is actually just slightly beyond perfect.

6. Donnie Darko (2001)
Dir Richard Kelly, Scr Richard Kelly
That rarest of beasts - a borderline-incomphrensible film that is genuinely brilliant. Specactular atmosphere and characters bursting with an abundance of ideas.

5. Children Of Men (2006)
Dir Alfonso Cuar

Come on someone! You really don't have to be as nerdy as me with the director and writers...

I love doing decade movie lists. Only looking back at it do I realise that I clearly go for emotional films in a big way (being a wuss and all....)

10. The pursuit of happyness
9. Revenge of the sith
8. Brokeback Mountain
7. The Butterfly Effect
6. SAW
5. The Dark Knight
4. The Boune Ultimatum
3. The Wrestler
2. The Da Vinci Code
1. Star Trek.

10 - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Just about recovered the prequels for those of us who saw the original films first time round.

9 - Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Made Zombies scary again, visceral and dark as horror should be.

8 - Shrek (2001)
Pixar not the only Kings of Digital Annimation, cartoons for adults

7 - SAW (2004)
Fresh take on the psycho story

6 - Underworld (2003)
More action than horror, tempted to place it higher for Miss Beckinsale's outfit alone

5 - Final Destination (2000)
Great original concept, well executed.

4 - Casino Royale (2006)
Excellent re-boot for Bond

3 - Wall-E (2008)
Full of charm, warmth, great feel good movie that required little worRAB

2 - Battle Royale (2000)
Simply the best foreign language film I've ever seen, in my all time top 10

1 - The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003)
Been wanting to see this on the big screen since I was a little boy having read the books, didn't disappoint which in itself was amazing.

Close but no cigar awarRAB to the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Matrix trilogies, King Kong, War of the WorlRAB, Madagascar, Cars, Shaun of the Dead, A Night at the Museum, The Day after Tomorrow, I Robot, the Dark Knight, Transformers and Start Trek.

Still have 2012 and Avatar to see this year so the top 10 could change.

1 The Dark Knight - not just a good comic book film but a brilliant thriller

2 LOTR trilogy - i'll count this as one as its basically one long film but they are probably the greatest films i've seen on the big screen, they had the lot.

3 Wall-E - not just pixars finest work but a true masterpiece, the wordless opening half are just stunning visually and emotionally.

4 Kill Bill vol 1 - i love this film, after i first watched it i rewatched it the following night. the visuals, tone and story just blew me away.

5 The Bourne Identity - didn't watch it until a year or so back as i didn't think i'd like it but i loved the guessing game storyline and the fighty bits ;-D

6 Pirates of the Carribean: curse of the black pearl - not very high brow but i always wanted to be a pirate as a kid and this hit the spot plus Depp was a riot.

7 Shaun of the dead - a funny british comedy, a neat twist on the zombie genre and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on top of their double act game.

8 The Descent - possibly my favourite horror film of the last 20 years, brilliantly claustaphobic, great turns by all the cast and a good old fashioned grim ending (the british ending anyway)

9 Superbad - an 80's style teen comedy thats smart and has some killer dialogue. i like the penis drawing bit the best ;-D

10 Up - only just watched this but the opening 15 minutes affected me more than any live action film ever will, simply beautiful.

10: Save The Last Dance (2001)
I know this wasn't exactly a masterpiece but it just seems to be one of those films i can watch over and over again. This was original before all the other copycats started.

9: Stardust (2007)
Loved this when i first seen it, very good feel good movie and Robert Di Niro was excellent.

8: Mr Brook's (2007)
Thought this film was interesting the whole way through, kept me interested to see what was going to happen next

7: Superbad (2007)
I didn't think comedy could get any better in 2007 after Knocked Up and then Superbad came out. Funny comedy

6: Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
It amazes me how Will Smith didn't get an oscar for this. One of the most emotional films i have ever seen.

5: Transformers (2007)
Wasn't expecting this to be nearly as good as it was. Shame about the sequel :(

4: American Gangster (2007)
This is a film that had me talking for weeks afterwarRAB. Brilliant performances from the two main actors. Loved Denzel epecially

3: The Hangover (2009)
Any movie that has me laughing from start to finish deserves a place in my top 3. Best comedy of he decade imo

2: Finding Nemo (2003)
Much like Up and Wall-E this was just one of those feel good movies. Even 6 years on (and being 6 years older) i still enjoy watching this.

1: The Dark Knight (2008)
Even though there was a lot of hype surrounding this i still thought it was excellent. Its one of the very few movies i saw that i was wondering when it was over. Great all round :)

I didn;t realise but apparently 2007 was a big year in my movie life.

Again i've a few movies still to see so this could change, tho not likely ;)

Not a decade. If you start at year 1, the first decade would be years 1-10, then years 11-20, and so on. The Nineties would be 1991-2000.

I suppose it doesn't matter if you start at zero for years but start at one for everything else, it just seems a bit inconsistent.

LOTR trilogy .

those moves were quite an achievement , on paper you just wouldn't think they'd work , but Jackson really made it work .

Matrix Reloaded (yeah I know , the 3rd one was sh*te but I still love part 2 )

Secretary - I loved this , it really was quite erotic .

Team America - best comedy of the decade , adore it , especially the songs - so ronery .

Million Dollar Baby - my god what a knockout punch that movie has , perhaps Cilnt's best film.

more later ...

Oldboy ... Genius. That one take fight scene is staggering.

Pans Labyrinth .... Genius again . Visually breathtaking .

Martyrs ... Wow , French horror rocks . Thought provoking horror .

Children of Men ... Genius again again . There is a shot that goes on for about 7 mins that is amazing .

Bourne Identity ... Brilliant thriller that spawned a brilliant trilogy . Every film improves on the last one .

Dark Knight
... Best comic book film EVER (?) Opening bank job is one of the best beginnings i can remember .

Inside ... French horror again.

300 ... Love every moment of this film. Absolute escapist nonsense .

District 9 ... staggering film. So much better than Transformers or Terminator 4 , and made for a tenth of the budget

Star Wars : The Phantom Menace . Pants film , but made me tingle all over when i first saw it at the cinema . When the 20th Century fox logo was followed by the ' long time ago in a galaxy far far away ' i was a ten year old boy again.

Honorable mentions ... Shaun of the Dead / Serenity / LOTR trilogy / Switchblade romance / REC. / Incredibles / Casino Royale / The Descent / Infernal Affairs .

I feelin too lazy to write another top ten at the mo. sorry but I would like to say that I watched Monster again the other day and forgotten what a great film it was, so when I do compile a list, Monster will be in there some where. :D
