ToonZone's Top 25 manga!

The thing is, those girls do jack donkey regardless of their "damsel" status. What does Orihime do besides being a third-tier cheerleader, or being a deu ex machina whenever the author feels like it?

When did Sakura or any of the girls do anything besides pulling shipper strings?

Whether they get rescued or fight a lot, it matters if they actually do something instead of standing around being useless.

Dude, the only thing Orihime doesn't do that all the other characters do (on screen) is fight, and guess what, Orihime is not a fighter and never was. What she does is her intended role in the story (all that stuff you said), which yeah, is neccesary for other stuff to happen. So she does not fight, so what?, literally every other girl in the series except Nanao and Tatsuki does that and just because Orihime doesn't and plays a different role doesn't make Orihime a bad or missused character (she is none of those things).

Orihime is pretty much ineffectual up until Hecto Muendo. Then she gets a huge power-boost for Aizen's personal plot device. Then she gets pushed back thanks to introducing...what, over a dozen new characters to die within a fight or two?

She's a bad female character in comparison (which is the point, we're not talking in general) and it's partly due to the author not knowing how to handle a large cast without severely shafting several others.

If we're comparing her to girls in Rurouni Kenshin or better, she looks a lot worse.

True Claymore wins..but thats because it has a mostly female cast..all of wich could take down the collective Big 3's cast in a fight! (Clare rocks!)

also why is everyone talking about orihime (the most annoying of Bleach's female cast, heck one of the most annoying in general!)

when I reffered to strong female characters in Bleach, I was thinking Yuroichi, soifon Rukia (Well she's decently strong now) and the rest of the Gotie 13 squad merabers. heck even Rangiku (who was made for fanserivice) is a pretty good fighter. (Orihme would'nt be jack if it wern't for those weird powers of her's but yea I agree she is a cheerleader...an annoying one!)

Hey I know lets make Claymore #1

You're mixing up good fighter with good characterization. Two very different things. Most of the females in Naruto and One Piece are underdeveloped compared to their male cast, and in general.

I'm happily surprised that Pokemon Adventures made the list. As much as I love the series as it is, I totally wouldn't mind if it had more aspects from the Adventure series. In many ways, it is better than the series. There's much more intense action in the various arcs. I would love to see it animated myself, but I'm okay with it just being a manga.

I'm glad that Hikaru No Go made the list, as well as Fruits Basket. I'm definitely planning on reading Fruits Basket after I finish watching the series, but I'm not sure when I'll read Hikaru No Go.

Of course, One Piece being nuraber one was expected. I haven't read much of the manga, but I've heard great things about it. I still need to catch up on all of the voyage volumes I've missed. I thought that the Christmas picture with the characters as little kiRAB was adorable.

Congrats to BECK and 20th Century Boys, the only two from my list. I also dig Hikaru no Go, Monster, xxxHOLiC, Bakuman, Vagabond, Fullmetal Alchemist, and even Pokemon special. I used to be a big fan of Rurouni Kenshin but that was another time in my life.

This thread was brought about when the idea was mentioned in the thread for the top 25 anime. That thread was brought about when the idea was mentioned (by me) in the thread for the top 30 characters. That thread was brought about when the idea was mentioned in the thread for IGN's top 25 characters. Now we're in this thread. What will it be this time?

Garfield, I don't know whether to be glad to know such a like-minded person or to tell you to get out of the head, but those were the exact same two I was thinking of.

If it isn't a dub only list than Norio Wakamoto will just win it.

Then again, a dub-only list will likely just have Steve Blum on the top. >_______>

Ah, such is life on the interwaters...

That's the eternal paradox of VA fandom. The most well-known VAs aren't necessarily the best ones, because the well-known ones are the most recognizable, and you're not supposed to be hearing the ACTOR, you're supposed to be hearing the CHARACTER. The really talented ones are the ones you don't even recognize. When you say to yourself, "Hey, isn't that that one guy who played Character X in Anime Y?" that's not a good thing.

I recognize Crispin from Eureka 7 everytime I watch Hellsing, but that doesn't undermine his performance.

And I highly doubt Steve Blum will make it top. He hasn't been doing anime in general, unlike most of the Japanese Seiyuu.

One Piece would probably occupy ten out of the top 25 opening spots and you know Megumi Hayashibara would take up the rest

My beloved Engage!!! Godannar, Red Shock (that's the 02 opening's name right?), Blood Queen, Hito Toshite Jikuga Bureiteru, Brighter Side, BOY or even the Cutey Honey theme song would never make it -.-

Well maybe the Cutey Honey theme...no matter how you spin it its ALWAYS awesome.

Anime OP's sure would be difficult since lots of anime get two or more so there's even more to count up.

(I personally think most people would vote for "TANK!")

Let's see, while One Piece does have over 10 openings, two of them don't really have the biggest fans. Crazy Rainbow Star and the recent Opening. I don't know exactly why Crazy Rainbow Star was hated, but I do know I'm not a fan of it myself. But the recent opening, I know the common criticism is to paraphrase Greg from AP, It's feels like Sesame Street. I do like the new opening, it sort of matches my opinion on Pokemon Symphonic Medley, it's feels like some sort of cover song/background piece rather than a theme to some show. Also I think the boy band style We Are gets flack as well.

I already have a few choices for anime openings anyway, one from Dragon Ball, One from Pokemon, One from One Piece, One from FMA, Fist of North Star, and that's just off the top of my head.

Oooh Fist of the North Star...its pretty good (though its more fun when sung by Hatsune Miku )

If we go old school Pegasus Fantasy is pretty awesome (though the Cutey Honey theme is even more old school...)
