ToonZone's Top 25 manga!

And right after skypea (when Aokiji showed up I'd say) its been nothing but an ever escalating train of awesome that has yet to reach its climax of awesome (and things right now are more epic than ever). If the manga was only up to skypea I'd agree with you, but that ended years ago. The OP of today is a completely different beast.

Meh..Personally the Only Story Arc Ive Liked since the east Blue arcs ended was Thriller Bark..everything else seemed well..Not that good. IMPO that is.

again One piece is a good seires, but I think it gets way to much online love..It is not a #1 series by any means...But then again...what is....lol. But yea deffinantly not OP.

I like it....Nice to see many of my faves made the list....I'm surprised (but happy) that Maison Ikkoku made the list, since it doesn't seem to be that well known...

Huh. I actually think this is a broader and more eclectic list than the top anime list that came out a while ago. I am pleased and surprised, because it often seems like people here watch more anime than manga, yet the manga list reflects more diverse tastes than the anime one.

I would've be severely disappointed if Maison Ikkoku didn't make the list. It's one of the grandmamas of the manga boom in the U.S., one of the first truly great manga titles than made it to our shores back in the mid 90s.

I also look at this list and shake my head at how badly Blade of the Immortal has slipped over the past 6-8 years. It used to be held up as an example of great modern manga, but it just kept going on and on and on and now nobody cares about it anymore.

Yay One Piece is #1. And rightfully so... times a thousand.

But ew Katekyo Hitman REBORN! It's not a bad series, but it's not really deserving of top anything, because really it's nothing special at all and is a bit annoying at times. Plus it's just boring to me now.

But I really should be more mad at Naruto being so high, because I prefer even REBORN! over Naruto. lol

One Piece making #1 was expected, but in all honesty I would never think of ranking it ahead of anything by Urasawa, or quite a few of the other manga on the list. I understand that TZ likes it though, so I won't dwell on this, and overall, I could imagine worse stuff making #1, so I'm at least glad that the #1 spot was taken by something that I like and enjoy. My only real gripe with One Piece is that I personally don't find it to be constant "awesome" like most other people do here. For me, personally, it has its highs and lows, often involving a lot of build-up with each arc before it gets to the really good and exciting stuff.

I am VERY glad that Rurouni Kenshin made the #2 spot, as it is very well deserved for it.

I am also glad to see that Monster made it very high onto the list, but I would have liked to see it make its way into the top 5 (and it was so close, too).

Death Note being within the top 5 is no surprise, and personally, I think that its spot is perfect for it. Its one of my favorite manga, and unlike most others, I actually enjoyed the 2nd arc for what it was.

Bakuman making the list is a surprise since its still a relatively recent series in my eyes, having been running in WSJ for just over a year now. I'm glad that it did make the list, though, as it deserves it.

I'm rather sad by the lack of Onizuka on this list, but oh well, at least Onizuka himself made his way onto the top 25 of the top 30 anime characters list.

Yu Yu Hakusho making the #11 spot seems like a perfect placing for it to me.

As for HXH, I'm glad that it made the top 5. However, unlike some others, I still say that YYH has more consistent quality than HXH, even in the manga, with the exception of the last arc. That said, because the last arc of YYH was so utterly horrible in the manga, I can't disagree with HXH being Togashi's better "manga." Although, when it comes to the anime which fixes the few major flaws that the YYH manga had, I would take YYH over HXH in a heartbeat, simply because I just find the characters to be quite a bit more to my liking (but they, that's just me, and I think that I'm kind of alone on this opinion on the TZ anime board ).

Overall, this was a very good list. There are very few rankings that I disagree with, and even the ones I disagree with are still very acceptable to me.

Yes, yes they do disagree! but that matters little to me, since I don't live in Japan

They did the same for Naruto (the multiple volumes in a month that is)

also..Your Related to Buggy the clown!? AWSOME!

Again I think OP is a fine series but it is HIGHLY OVERRATED (Way more then DBZ was IMPHO) (but Not quite as overrated as the other 2 big SJ series I guess)

I honestly would have loved to see Kenshin get #1 but #2 is Great as well, Again I think Its a great List, just one chouce I disagree with..so its a moot point!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Honestly, I agree with this.

Now, before anyone else tries to attack me for feeling that their precious One Piece manga is overrated, keep in mind that I still like and enjoy it quite a bit. I do think that it probably deserves a spot within the top 10, however the #1 spot just seems a bit too....well, not right, but as someone else said, its moot point, and that's just my personal opinion on OP. The thing is, while most other TZ merabers will jump to call every little thing that Oda writes absolutely epic, I still find that One Piece is highly based on highs and lows. That is that it uses the same general formula for most arcs, in which it starts out with some build-up to the main events against the main baddies, and then gets pretty awesome towarRAB the end, but not entirely throughout every moment of the arc. For example, with the latest series of events involving Luffy, everyone has been saying that every bit of it as epic, but to me, it was really mostly a bunch of build-up until we got the current arc that the manga is in (which I admit is really good, but still not entirely amazing, IMO).

Overall, One Piece is a really good manga. I just can't see it as the best manga out there, personally, especially compared to something written by Urasawa. But, that's all just my personal opinion, of course. I still think that Rurouni Kenshin deserved the #1 spot, though, personally.

Glad I'm not the Only one who thought Kenshin deserved the #1 spot. & My view on one peice is simmilar, I Think the current arc "Impel Downs" is pretty good, but nothing WOW about it, & maybe its just because OP is my least fav of the 3, But aside from the various arcs in East Blue, Thriller Bark & the current arc Impel Downs..I can't say I've enjoyed the manga all that much, again its a fun read with fun art & an interesting story, but the series has just had two many Drawn out or Sub-par arcs for it to be #1...Plus, and this is just my openion, compared to Bleach & naruto..It lacks girl power, What can I say I'm a sucker for a series with an equally strong male & Female cast..& Nami has been less a heroine & more fanservice lately, there isn't that much to Nico yet, & Boa hancock is still too new.

Again I think Oda is a pretty good manga-ka, heck I think all of the SJ big 3 writers are & deserve there series on the list..just, none are really Close to #1 material IMPHO!

thank you for your time..and merry christmas!

Hmmmm, well, personally I don't care for the other 2 series of the big 3, as their characters don't really interest me at all. But, I guess they each have their distinct forms of appeal. I do find One Piece to appeal to me the most out of the big 3, but I still don't find it to be as amazing as many other merabers of TZ on the anime board do. That's really all there is to that, as far as I go.

Agreed. Even though the resent events has been good, there've been too many instances where things felt entirely too draggy. The draw point for One Piece to me is the characters and character abilities. Other than that, I can't say that One Piece should be #1, but then again I think it is better than both Bleach and Naruto, so yeah... "shrugs"

Gantz and Genshiken both make the list? Berserk is in the top 10, ahead of freaking DRAGON BALL?!?! It's a Christmas miracle!

As far as OP being in the #1 spot, consider this: it has at least as many diehard fans putting it in the top spot as any other big title, but what probably pushed it over the edge was having made its way into the lower-middle of almost everyone else's list, too. It may not be the greatest manga of all time, but if there's one thing it does have, it's broad appeal, which is what these lists really reflect more so than pure quality.

Definitely a lot of titles on the list that I need to check out, I haven't really read a very broad spectrum of manga to the point where I kind of had trouble compiling my own top ten list.

Are you freakin' kidding me?! Let's examine this:

Naruto-Sakura was useless before the timeskip and had at least two damsel-in-distress moments, Hinata at least got a fight in previous to the timeskip and after the timeskip confessed her love to Naruto only to be almost killed and never heard from again. Sakura did get better but even in the recent manga she has become the designated healer character.

Bleach-Has the audacity to develop their female characters only to have two-long running damsel-in-distress arcs. Rukia got better, but Orihime is just utter character assasination. How long has she been "kidnapped" now?

One Piece-While the two main females have had their distress arcs it was used as a springboard to develop the characters pasts and signify their joining of the crew. Robin's distress arc alone was a major turning point for the entire crew. Post their "distress" arcs they both became stronger fighters and actually contribute to battles (Alabasta and Water 7 for Nami, Thriller Bark for Robin).

Now technically you could argue that the fact they needed to be rescued at all qualifies but between the three SJ series I seen far more misuse of the females in Bleach and Naruto than I have in One Piece which seem to have a fair share of strong female characters.

O-chan

I'd say for shounen manga One Piece uses their females just second best compared to Full Metal Alchemist.

Funny thing is that One Piece was at the top of most lists so it dominated in points but Rurouni Kenshin was like in nearly everybody's list. It just wasn't enough to get past One Piece

O-chan...Bleach has the biggest Female cast of the 3, giving it more diversity and making it more interesting, sure you have fanservice fodder like Rangiku & Useless characters Like Orihime, but most of Bleach's female cast are Competent warriors, Naruto has more then just sakura you know, Sure she was useless in part one but she's pretty strong now & the rest of naruto's female cast also have there own skills & fighting styles.

One piece has like 3 female characters, None of wich are really all that.

I really fail to see how having more female characters makes them better than the female characters in another series, especially when the other series has development for most of its female characters. In fact, to be honest, I fail to see how having more characters in general makes a series more interesting than one with less characters (although, in comparing Bleach to One Piece, both of them each contain a crap-load of characters ). In all honesty, my biggest problem with Bleach has actaully been that I feel that it tries to shove too many characters down our throats at once, and as a result very few of them get even a decent amount of development (or even real personality and substance, for that matter), and when Tite Kubo actaully does try and spend time focusing on individual characters, he has too many of them to deal with that he often enRAB up having to slow down the pace of teh story by a considerable amount in order to get that development through (and usually its not even very good development, IMO).

I will say that none of them have really come close to being my favorite female anime characters out there, but at the same time, I personally find them to be miles better than ANY of the female cast from the other 2 of the big 3 series.

Now, this is all of course my personal opinion, so don't take it as an argument against you, or anything like that.

Meh, unlike you guys I don't think that a girl being rescued or not fighting much makes said character crappy or "misused" as some put it, that's just ridiculous (all these girls your talking about are still good characters despite what happens to them IMO). Anyway, if that's how you guys are rating your shounem manga than Claymore wins easily (too bad most of the girls have like the same or very similar personalities, well, outside of the core cast anyway).
