I'm glad to see that Hikaru no Go is getting a fair amount of love. I used to think that I was one of the only people who bothered reading it, as most other people would be turned off by its seemingly boring plot. But, I'm glad to see that I'm definitely not along on totally loving this manga series.

I liked it!

(It's not in my favorites but I always love those "games are serious business" shows. Especially since it actually is serious business)

I'll try but it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to come up with 10. I'm still trying to expand here and there.

1. Rurouni Kenshin - It's samurai and I'm all about my samurai settings. There aren't that many annoying characters to me in it. Kaoru's more likeable here than in the anime to me. The artwork is really good especially when Shishio comes into the story. The fighting is great. Seriously, when I first read this, I thought that seeing this in paper form would actually be a little bad because I thought the fights in the anime were so great, but comparing the anime to the manga, I have to say that the manga wins. (Mainly because I don't have to deal with inconsistency )

2. Samurai Deeper Kyo - It's almost like the manga is a completely different series than its anime counterpart. But then again I gave up on the anime somewhere during the little tournament part. Anyway, outside of Yuya and Benitora I definately enjoy the rest of the characters. It's an added bonus that it's samurai, and then the artwork is awesome as well.

3. Hunter x Hunter - Newest manga I've been reading lately. One of the main things I've been loving about this series is that everyone is using there brain. The last chapter I left off on was 75. Sure the artwork's not all that great (and I'm a huge artwork freak), but when you have a series where all or mostly all the characters are enjoyable that kind of becomes a moot point. (If only I can apply that to some of the anime I watch)

4. Death Note - The artwork is amazing. I also like the fact that everyone is using there brains here. I also like that all the detailed information is easy to understand, or rather, it's explained really well. The only character(s) I didn't really care for were Light and Matsuda. And for it to not be an action series (And I'm always action first) it managed to hook me pretty nicely.

5. Basilisk - I'm not a fan of romance but I enjoyed this quite a bit. Nothing was dragged out. If anything I felt the characters abilities should've been dragged a bit since I would've loved to see other ways they could use their abilities. Characters were enjoyable outside of Oboro and Tenzen.. (Gosh he got on my nerves) And outside of Oboro, the women aren't damsels.

6. One Piece - This used to be higher up on my list (#1) and the current events are awesome, but in some ways it feels a bit draggy in the fighting department. But the characters are off the charts. I've enjoyed almost all of the characters that's been introduced in the series. The frienRABhip theme is done nicely here unlike some other series.

7. Tenjho Tenge - I did stop reading it, and some times I come back to it every once in a while. The fanservice is a little bit too much for me. But the fighting was a draw point for me. The artwork is really good too.

8. Black Lagoon - The only reason this is ranked so low is because I stopped reading it when it aired on Starz. But everything I read was great although I feel that manga involving guns would always be better on the big screen instead. Again, the artwork was great. Characters were great. I should probably get back to reading this sometime soon.

Unfortunately, that's where I stop at. I haven't read much, and I just don't think Naruto, Bleach and Fairy Tail are all that...

Outside of its villains and characters from other villages I can't get into Naruto's characters. (outside of a few) They range from annoying to completely dull. One thing I will credit Naruto for is its great action even though there have been some deus ex moments.

Bleach problem is its slowness to move anywhere. The overhyped villains go out without doing much of anything. If there's one thing I do like about Bleach is a lot of its characters.

Fairy Tail has the best female character that I've seen in Shonen Jump by far, which is Erza. It's just too bad that she's not backed up with anyone else. Everyone else are pretty boring.

1. Phoenix
2. Maison Ikkoku
3. 20th Century Boys
4. Oishinbo
5. Genshiken
6. Akira
7. Lady Snowblood
8. Lone Wolf and Cub

Can't go any further than that right now.

Thanks for reminding me that I really need to find a way to read this. If the original is just as good or (probably) better than the TV adaptation then that should definitely be right up my alley.

All the volumes are very good reaRAB and stand on their own as original stories, but some volumes are better than others. Volume 4 is a standout work.

This is completely "going off the top of my head" territory but...

1. One Piece by Oda Eichiro
2. Berserk by Kentaro Miura
3. Hunter X Hunter by Yoshiro Togashi

These first three are at the top because the authors have an excellent grasp on their characters and the world they live in. Each chapter is a much anticipated event and there is no way of telling how and when each of these series will end.

4.Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arukawa
5.Monster by Naoki Urasawa
6.Hikaru no Go by by Yuuhi Hotta and Takeshi Obata

The next three are series that are just really engaging and overall good reaRAB.

7.Buddha by Osamu Tezuka
8.Pluto by Naoki Urasawa
9.Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi
10.GTO by Tohru Fujisawa
11.Ceres by Watase Yuu

What makes these series great is how they actually define how manga should be an experience and not just a quick read.

12.Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto
13.Rurouni Kenshin by Nobuhiro Watasuki
14.Fruits Baskets by Natsuki Takaya
15.Genshinken by Shimoku Kio
16.Death Note by Tsugumi Orabroada and Takeshi Obata
17.Flame of Recca by Nobuyuki Anzai
18.Dragonball by Akira Toriyama
19.Kare Kano by Masami Tsuda
20.Yu Yu Hakusho by Yoshiro Togashi

They have their shortcomings but overall well done.

21.xxxHolic by CLAMP
22.Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi
23.Love Hina by Ken Akumatsu
24.Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyoma
25.Oh My Goddess by Kosuke Fujishima

A little on the filler-ish side but still relaxing to read on a calm relaxing day.

Honorable Mention:Yu-gi-Oh by Kazuki Takahashi

Despite the heavy card game themeit sti tells a story and has some great character building.

To be fair, most of the reason new Berserk & Hunter X Hunter chapters are an anticipated event is because of the amount of time it takes for them to come out, which is a very long time. Not saying it still wouldn't be true if they didn't, just not to the extent that they currently are.

1) One Piece
2) Rurouni Kenshin
3) SGT Frog
4) Hunter x Hunter
5) Naruto
6) Dragonball
7) Love Hina
8) Full Moon
9) Tsubasa Chronicles
10) Yakitate Japan!

I'm such an uneducated swine when it comes to manga. XD

But the art style of some series really turn me off such as BECK and Fruits Basket.

I've yet to read Monster, Beserk, Hellsing, Akira and a nuraber of other more mature titles. I really should and maybe I wont even vote on what I feel is the best manga but I thought I'd nominate some of my favorites anyway.

All I know for sure is my favorite manga I've read to date is One Piece (all the good and no filler, awesome stuff) and both Naruto and Rurouni Kenshin are great manga though I've lost appreciation for their anime counterparts.

There some I can put down for like One Piece and such but I don't read the manga for that so I put down manga I've actually read. One Piece or many others may be on top if I READ it. XP

01: Bakuman
02: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
03: MPD Psycho
04: Fullmetal Alchemist
05: Berserk
06: Hunter x Hunter
07: Eyeshield 21
08: 20th Century Boys
09: Pluto
10: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Yeah, but even if the authors didn't take long breaks between chapters they already had a strong audience because of the masterful and original storytelling elements. I don't even keep up with the Japanese version of Berserk so I'm making my judgment based off of what I have read in the English version. Besides that, given how much excellent artwork is in Berserk I can see why Kentaro Miura takes long breaks.

You Dark Horse Berserk readers will feel the pain soon, they've almost caught up.

(For the record, I keep current with the DH releases to support the series and so as to have a hard copy for my collection, but it's *ahem* not the only release I keep current with.)

I kinda figured they were getting close what with the
Guts and Zodd team-up
but at least its not like the long gaps between Hunter X Hunter and I believe his breaks didn't start happening until recently while Togashi's breaks are what defines his career.
