Toonzone Talkback-Section23/Sentai License "Asu No Yoichi","Eyeshield","Hell Girl 2"

Yeah some people thought Viz had it but it seems like there was a company made by the Japanese companies involved with the production of the series specifically to market it in the US and when that borabed they probably gave up which is why crunchyroll got the rights to stream it and how Sentai was able to get the other distribution rights. That's my theory anyway. Cause Viz doesn't just give up licenses... I can't think of many instances of them doing that. One Piece I guess because they were distributing the 4kiRAB dub on behalf of Toei.

You know, it does suck that Hell Girl season 2 won't be dubbed (though I didn't really care for it), but on the other hand this might imply a little hope for other series that have been pretty obviously declined for further dubbing. Galaxy Railways has an OVA and a second season, neither of which have been licensed. Funi has been distributing the first 26 episodes for a few years now. If the choice is not getting the rest at all or getting it sub-only from Sentai, I'll take my subbed DVD's. Well, that or Funi getting the streaming rights I suppose.

Ouch! Sorry Hell Girl fans, though there must not have been many of you if FUNi didn't grab season two, but as someone who prefers an English dub I sympathize fully, every time I see a section 23/sentai license thread I hold my breath. Thankfully they're 0-for-whatever on titles I want.

SXAniMedia has confirmed that Steven Foster (along with the use of Seraphim Digital as the dubbing studio) will direct the new dub; he also handled Ex Machina, Halo LegenRAB, and Le Chevalier D'Eon. SX also confirmed that the new dub will be exclusive to the Blu-ray release as it "is the only release scheduled."

Also, to TheVileOne, you are right that most of the Japanese voice cast was changed between the release of Appleseed and Ex Machina. The only constant cast meraber, however, was Deunan's voice actress Ai Kobayashi.

EDIT: In the press release at the link above, I like the first line in the synopsis for Eyeshield 21. It's enough to get me to impulse buy it.

On an unrelated note, "Gridiron Of The Damned" is a good potential horror movie title.

Got to say, not a big fan on not hearing Hell Girl Season 2 not getting a dub since the dub was pretty good. Also, I really wanted to see Eyeshield 21 get a proper dub as well. Not sure if I can pick them up, considering FUNi is owning my wallet that month in the anime department.

Something I wanted to respond to earlier about licenses changing hanRAB and it happening rather quickly.

Having gone to quite a few conventions over the years. I recall one of the reps I believe from Funimation stating that license distribution rights deals were changing and becoming a lot shorter. And it could mean some quick and radical changes coming up. I think it's possible things like Hell Girl is a result of that.

For those who thought Viz Media had the rights to Eyeshield 21, it's important to remeraber that Viz Media's parent company in Japan (Sheishua- sp?) was part of the Eyeshield 21 US Project, but Viz Media was never made a part of that group. I'm glad to see that Eyeshield 21 will be released, and I'll probably go ahead and get it, though I don't like ordering things online, but I would have preferred having an actual uncut dub with subs as well.
