Hell Girl must have flopped for FUNi not to pick up the second season. At least the second season will available to us.

All new titles are sub only.

$50 retail (ie the same retail price for the One Piece sets!) for a sub only release??

They're not doing nearly as much work on these releases as they would on a dub/sub release, but they have no problem asking for near dub/sub set prices.

I think if I was interested in any of these tiles, the price would have driven me away.

Nope. New dub with the Ex Machina cast and probably only that with the Japanese audio. Although I do want the og as well, it probably won't be on there.

I am excited about the original Appleseed going to Blu-ray.

EDIT: Forgot that TAN does HD streaming, so Appleseed Blu-ray is not the first HD offering from Neo-ADV.

This is somewhat confusing. Just FYI, ADV Films did the did the Ex Machinda dub. Are they actually bringing that cast back together to record a NEW dub for the 2004 CG Appleseed movie?

Also I like Asu No Yoichi getting a release.

Hell Girl was a horrible property and Funi never should've licensed it in the first place.

That is correct. According to ANN, Appleseed will get a brand new dub with the Ex Machina cast. Since they didn't even try to re-unite the original English cast for Ex Machina, so it would make sense to get the English voices in-sync with both movies.

I was also confused with your original post, making me think you knew about the re-dub.

This is the first I've heard it. I'm also at a loss why they would record a new dub when the original was still quite decent and fairly new. I guess Appleseed is lucrative ENOUGH where doing a re-dub is feasible for a blu-ray release. Just sort of surprised if Sentai/Section 23 would do a dub for a release its for something like 2004 Appleseed movie. Not that I mind all that much. I liked Matranga a lot more for Briareos anyway. However, as I recall Ex Machina recast just about everyone in Japanese as well too.

I wasn't under the impression that Hell Girl did poorly but maybe it did. Even so... I'm surprised FUNimation didn't get it.

Well my feelings toward Eyeshield 21's release mostly mirror those of my feelings toward the Gintama release but I actually love Eyeshield 21 and would be interested in owning it on DVD rather than just watching it on Crunchyroll but I'm gonna find a sale cause I'm not paying 50 bucks for 13 episodes of anything sub only.

Geez... what's next Sentai you going to get Reborn? Please don't.

Ouch.

Yeah, great job, FUNi, releasing the Season 1 release, like if you guys licensed the second season. You really had the fans fooled.

Kitchensyngk isn't gonna like this...

Well, if all goes south FUNimation can easily just swoop in and get Season Two on the cheap, I assume.

Not big on the changes the Eyeshield 21 anime made, as my first experience was with the manga, so I don't think I'd want to pick it up.

With their sub-only sales, they literally have to voluntarily let go of the Hell Girl license themselves or they're bored of it for some reason.

The other possibility is Sentai eventually contracting FUNI's cast for a dub, under their flag.

I'm really surprised Sentai acquired Eyeshield 21. Viz only announced it 2-3 years ago. That's fairly quick for a license to lapse.

I wonder how FUNi will respond to the inevidable flood of questions concerning Hell Girl S2. They always say they'd love to, given the oppurtunity, pick up season 2 of whenever someone asks them at a con, so I can sympathize with upset (dub) fans. Ignoring poor sellers like Big Windup! and Galaxy Railways, with additional seasons of series like Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Shana, and When They Cry not making it to the U.S. after being re-released, I always take what FUNi says with a grain of salt.

Asu no Yoichi! is the only series I'd consider buying and it's BIG maybe. Everything else is a pass, though I might watch Eyeshield 21 on Crunchyroll one of these days.

These are a lot more surprising than most Neo-ADV licenses. So Viz gave up on Eyeshield, it doesn't get a dub (I'll stick to Crunchyroll for that one), FUNimation gave up on finishing Hell Girl, the rest of it won't get a dub, and Neo-ADV acquire Appleseed, and it gets a new dub.

Just Hell Girl Season 2 Collection #1.

Nice to see somebody is cleaning up the messes left behind by other R1 companies. I don't mind paying a little bit more. Not like May is going to be real busy for me (thankfully), so its affordable.

May... May when Botherhood, Dragon Box 3, Dragonball Season 3, DBZ Kai Season , etc. are all are released?

I guess none of those are your cup of tea then.

Also you say that like FUNimation hasn't licensed rescued half the industry lately.

I have no interest in Funimation's May titles. What I've seen of Brotherhood, not worth buying half-season sets for - I'll wait for cheaper, more episode collections. No interest in DBZ Kai and I usually have the DBoxs on extremely low priority, like extremely low.

Funimation only has three titles I'm looking forward to: FLCL, Seto no Hanayome, Eden of the East. Until then, virtually a pass at every corner from them.
