Now all we have to do is get this DVD stateside...

Park himself drops a baker's dozen of bread puns on the DVD. In such circumstances, I'm just rising to the occassion.

I was going to touch on that question in my review but thought it'd be rude, because I personally think the series will end when Peter Sallis dies. Park seems to have alot of respect for him (given he did the voice way back when W&G were just some art student's final project) and Sallis is really key to the soul of the character. I think out of respect they'd be retired when Sallis sadly passes on.

I didn't know Sallis was that old; knowing that, it's obvious why they went with a different actor for the upcoming video game. He really sounds the part, though; he's just a tiny bit off. I wonder if they would ever consider using the alternate for future films.

Not that there really need to be more...

I agree that no Sallis = no Wallace. It'd be like hearing a voice other than Phil Hartman's coming out of Troy McClure or Lionel Hutz, which is why both characters were respectfully retired following his sadly premature death.

I've looked up some clips and your comments basically match my own on this other guy. Though hopefully they haven't done this so they can continue the series without Sallis. It'd just seem so disrespectful to the guy.

The good news is that the Shaun the Sheep DVD I just bought this past weekend (released Feb 25, 2009, and how come I didn't know about these? You're all fired ;)) reveals that Lionsgate will be releasing this A Matter of Loaf and Death in the US later this year, it seems. Woot!

The official reason given is that basically voicing a video game requires a lot more hours put in, which makes sense if you think about it. It's four games (this year) at a few hours each, and Gromit certainly doesn't talk, so Wallace has to comment on a lot of things that the player does. It seems like it would be many times the amount of work with not as much reward.
