Toon Zone Talkback - "Vandread": Machine a Trois

The best thing about the re-release is a decent price for the whole show. It's a good show and I liked it a lot to buy it years ago, but Geneon's high list price kept it from many people that I thought would enjoy it.

Ah Vandread, what a very conventional, but highly entertaining show, that's also buoyed by a rather fantastic dub.

It makes me wonder whatever happened to Julie Madallena, who voiced Dita, because she could do cute.

Ah, yes, "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus: The Animated Series".

I feared with the collapse of Geneon back in '07 that this show among others would fade into obscurity, and I wasn't about to pay a hundred bucks for the thin box set they had just put out. Two years and a change of licensors later, I finally found it at Hastings last week while two Best Buys had failed me. (There's one BB gift card I'm not spending on anime.)

I found this show on the Encore channels back in the summer of '04, and it really got me out of an anime funk I was in back then. I thought the interplanetary-battle-of-the-sexes angle was a unique idea, and it had some really funny moments between Hibiki and Dita as well as a few intense battles and an impressive color job.

Yes, it does remind me of Tenchi Muyo, but that's why I like it. I enjoy girl-chases-guy love comedies.

Watched the series numerous times on Encore WAM back in 2005-2006, when it and "Street Fighter II V" were re-ran ad nauseum, back-to-back, wall-to-wall as the only animes on the network.

Still think its a great show, and surprisingly it has very little fanservice considering there's so many females. Except for the first ED, there was little here that would've prevented this show from airing on Toonami.

I wished we would've seen more of Barnette......man was she smokin'.

For those who don't know: FUNimation bagged the OVAs earlier this week.

Interesting, considering Geneon never had them.

That's honestly just a slap in the face. Watching it with a decent HD setup... and then having black everywhere... it's like watching an old FMV in a CD game.
