Toon Zone Talkback - Toonzone Goes to Wondercon2011

Loosely based on Tower of Babel, eh? So, in other words, it'll be like "Starcrossed"? :)

I can't think of a time I had a sudden rush of "Hurray!" and "Oh no!" at the same time upon learning of a DTV project. Babel was one of those stories that that had an interesting underlying idea, but the execution kind of made me shake my head. More often than not, that's probably good for a movie adaptation, because you can take the good and filter out the bad. Of course, there's no guarantee they'll filter out the parts we didn't like, so that's where the hesitation or skepticism might kick in.

I'm a little concerned that it's another Bat-heavy JL film. I didn't like Crisis on 2 Earths, so that's some cause for worry. On the other hand, the potential of a Babel-like story is that it can show us how great Batman's potential can be, while at the same time not make his competence seem unreasonably overbearing, as he's not the one who executes the plans.

Anyway, since I had to grade HS essays all day, I really pounced on this distraction to get my mind elsewhere. ;)

 Why would it be bad? Wait until 2012 and see. You are judging way ahead of time. It's based on a comic book story again, but all of the releases so far are in some shape or form.
Waiting for other news that are not DC or Marvel related.....

That happens when you type fast.
Me too, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Otherwise, if the movie is so so I will not be down on it.

Well, Besides Thundercats, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Green Lantern animated series are there any other animation news?

WonderCon marked the first time I ever reported from a truly large event. It took me longer to send in my reports than I had wished, but I've learned a lot, and if I ever repeat the experience (Harley suggested trying to score a Press Pass for ComicCon, a terrific idea).

All of my reports have now been posted:

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Iron Man Anime Panel Report

Activision Spider-Man Panel Report

Writing for TV Animation" Panel Report

"Tribute to Dwayne McDuffie" Panel

I'd like to thank Harley for thinking of me for the job, and for being so patient. It's been years since I've written as an on-the-spot reporter, rather than a reviewer, and it was great to pick up those reins again.
