This is the talkback thread for Todd McFarlane Announces "Spawn" Animated Returns in 2010.

That's what he said like 5 years ago when he announced a new Spawn animated project at Comic-Con. I'll believe it when it actually airs on TV and not a second sooner.

To say this thing has already been cast, designed and presumably written, it's taken an awful long time to do anything with, especially considering the popularity of the direct to DVD format these days.

I'm still not holding my breath, but I am looking forward to seeing it.

Looking forward it (and the new movie), whenever it happens. Although I don't follow comics in general nowadays as much as I used to, I've always been a fan of Spawn and Todd McFarlane.

If so, that's pretty strange. I didn't know Spawn had a big of a following for it to be revived.

which spawn will it be? the cartoony spawn we see on toysrus shelves or it continues from where the old grimy cartoon left off?

i'd prefer a reboot all the way around. just start from scratch.

Wasn't there a press release a few months ago saying MacFarlane was doing a project for Cartoon Network?

Yeah I think there was one. Who knows the two projects could be related.

I'm excited for this new show, I am a big fan of the old HBO series and I loved a lot of the early Spawn comics so this new series is definatly a welcome one for me. I hope it's dark like the HBO show was but with less blood and gore so a major network like CN will pick it up instead of it being a straight to DVD or HBO series, that may be too much to ask though....

Doing some reading on it, it appears McFarlane has expressed an interest in returning to HBO since they gave him an outlet for the original animated series. I've also seen names like Keith David, Mark Hamill, Clancy Brown, and even Michael Jai White attached to it.
