Has nobody here seen this movie? Surprised nobody's mentioned anything about it yet.

I have to wonder why this got a review while ?Bolt? didn?t. Regardless, I doubt that I?ll see ?The Tale of Despereaux? until it premieres on HBO or Starz, but it seems like a charming movie.

Bolt didn't get a review because nobody on staff was willing to watch it and write one, really. Personally, I was willing to watch Bolt but the wife, niece, and nephew all turned me down. Make of that what you will.

I've watched it in theatres yesterday and it wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be. I kinda thought it served as a throwback to cartoons from the 90s with its witty, charming and heart-warming storytelling and I liked that it avoided using bathroom humor and pop-culture references that so many other talking animal movies seem to rely on in order to draw in the masses nowadays, though sadly that didn't help its box office. I wonder what will happen to Emma Watson's career once the Harry Potter movie series ends.

I saw it a while back. I liked it. It was a very fun little fairy tale adventure. Many of the things that made it so likable also seem to be among the reasons that it isn't getting much attention. It doesn't use any potty humor to get kids' attention. It doesn't try to be all hip and edgy by including popular culture references and jokes for the adults. It doesn't hinge on a celebrity voice cast (Matthew Broderick, Emma Watson and others are in it, but they're hardly the big marketing point). In general, it is what it was advertised as: an entertaining fable for children of all ages.

The reason I didn't bring it up on the Toon Zone Boards. Well . . . sometimes it's just kind of fun to watch and enjoy a movie without hemming and hawing about it online. No offense.
