Toon Zone Talkback - "Terminator" Animated Project Coming in 2009

Yeah, very interesting to say the least.
I really liked the Animatrix, so the comparison really makes me looking forward to the different takes on the Terminator universe.

When I read the headline, The Animatrix was the first thought that came to mind. I look forward to adding this to my collection.

PS: Aardman??? Surely you jest.

It's completely demented, I know. But the thing with something so demented is that it'll either be surprise genius or a complete trainwreck (and everyone knows that trainwrecks are more interesting to watch than something generically bad).

What's the sudden interrest in bringing back the Terminator Franchise all of the sudden? This and that new Fox series. That seemed to come out of no where. Is it a replacement for Terminator 4 or something? I just want to know that.

What, you expect Hollywood to come up with ORIGINAL IDEAS all the time or something? It's all about the FRANCHISE now, baby! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing as at least a trilogy of movies, novelizations, TV series, a video game, a DTV, behind-the-scenes documentaries about the "science" or "history" behind it, and maybe a graphic novel tie-in. Get with the program! :p.

That said, I am kind of curious to see this. The Animatrix had some impossibly cool moments in it (and a few that made even less sense than the second and third movies), and adding some European animators to it would be really cool, IMO.

Besides, Aardman has already done their version of the Terminator and he was awesome. I would be curious to see what they'd come up with for a DTV like this -- could be a parody, a version of "Creature Comforts" set in the Terminator world, or a comedic short set in the world, or even something serious. I remember some stop-motion sequences in the original Terminator movie, so getting something out of Aardman would be a nice throwback to the one that started it all.

Well, unless it's a movie, or motivated by some resurgence of some kind, it usually does appear to come out of nowhere. But then again, since they're thinking of 3 new films, it doesn't seem like it's coming out of thin air, like I originally thought.

Anyway, could you imagine what would have happened if they made this a syndicated Tv cartoon back in the day. that would have been... interresting to say the least.
