The writers from the hit movie Superbad are going to write an episode of The Simpsons. According to Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg James L. Brooks liked their movie and they decided to capitalize on it. Apparently the outline is already approved and the episode will air next season.

Personally, I'm really excited about this. I thought Superbad was absolutely flat-out hilarious. Fingers crossed, but this may well be better than the episode that Ricky Gervais wrote.

Judging by the episode Ricky Gervais "wrote", it's important to realize that no matter who writes a Simpsons episode, it gets absorbed by the regular staff into a style that many of us invariably do not like. But that doesn't mean it won't be above-average, because the Gervais episode was above-average even though it took about a whole act to get to the good stuff.

Superbad is the only film I know that can describe itself in the title.

I'm just wondering how writers that are made up of 90% sex and drug humor can write a Simpsons episode.

The thing is that both of these are about as tasteful as the other, maybe less so the former.

Actually, I am a big Drawn Together fan myself, and I do admit my comment might of been uncalled for, but I just wanted to note that you seem to dislike one sex-ridden piece but adore another. Personally, I thought the sex, booze, and drug jokes in Superbad were appropriate, as they really did capture how our youth act.

But hey, you won't have to worry about too much vagina talk or penis drawings, as they are only writing an episode of a prime-time non-cable series known for catching the eyes of children as well as adults.

At first I thought that it said they were writing a Spongebob episode for some reason. Which actually wouldn't be a bad idea if you think about the humor.

It could've been like, you know, a copy of some newspaper title.

Like a newspaper that makes that their giant headline and it's all about taking a shot at The Simpsons' new episodes.

Um. :0

It's already been said, once the regular Simpsons team gets a hold of the episode it will be no different than any other show, no matter who writes it. The show is so inbred after 20 years that it's impossible for new writers to put any type of personal stamp on the show without the regular staff writers, directors and producers throwing in the gags and characters they prefer.

Sounds interesting, although I hope they understand they are writing for broadcast TV. One of my little gripes about Superbad was the massive overload of profanity that was bordering on annoying than funny or necessary.

Hopefully this will rejuvenate the show. Next season should be excellent considering the ridiculous amount of money the cast is getting, and the writing better improve.

Eh.

Didn't like Superbad that much. (Couldn't even finish it really.)

Didn't like the Ricky Gervais episode that much.

Can't say I'm looking forward to this, but maybe the distinct style will result in something original.

I don`t think this is a good idea personally I mean come on the simpsons is a family-based show and it still will be even with them writing a few of their storys but i`m sure their will be some adult puns and things that would never appear on regular simpsons. and superbad was not really that great fyi.
