Toon Zone Talkback - Spike TV Expanding Toon Production

This is great news, any network willing to invest in animation is alright in my book and since I watch a lot of Spike as it is (UFC, Manswers, 1000 Ways to die) I can now look forward to some animated projects down the road.

I wonder if anime is in their minds or if they are going to produce original content in house?

Well how successful was the new Afro Samurai on SpikeTV?

Anyone remember that show from about 2004-ish I think it was called THIS JUST IN, it was basically like an attempt at making FAMILY GUY with a conservative bent. Didn't last long.

The main guy was like a conservative/Republican blogger but also an extreme slacker. His bests friends were a black progressive/slightly liberal type and a wimpy white dude that gets walked all over by his Asian mail order bride.

If they want to try again, they should start by announcing something just to get us excited again.

With Spike, Fox, Adult Swim and Comedy Central all focusing on animated series, things are looking up for adult animation.

Great idea, Spike! It certainly worked last time!

Remember the new Ren & Stimpy and Stripperella? Didn't those work out oh-so-well?

If Spike can give us some decent animated shows, then more power to them, but if this latest foray into animation is just going to be a repeat of what they gave us before (Striperella, Gary the Rat, Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon), then I have to say pass.

Here's hoping that Spike has at least learned from its' past mistakes.

Yeah, it was created by Steve Marmel, a guy who worked with Butch Hartman on a lot of stuff.

The show wasn't that bad, despite getting pretty political. I thought the show had a much higher laugh ratio than Spike's previous forays into animation.

Oddly enough, This Just In doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, the only trace of the series I could find online was its IMdB page.

Just start with a tie-in and work from there. I dunno, Sengoku Basara.

And don't hire John K. Or Pamela Anderson.

Hmm, who would you use for this?

This is some surprising news, I wonder where Spike will be going for animation this time.
If they can make it like the early episodes before the animation and the designs on the characters changed, I'm all in for a reboot on that Blond stripper.

More animation is always a good thing. I'm hoping they go with anime Afro Samurai was a success it seemed so I would stay close to that formula. Maybe get a popular T or M rated video game property to get an animated series.

Broadcasting Sengoku Basara and Say GUNxSWORD would be a good start.

GunXSword is actually a show that would be tailor made for SpikeTV. Western setting, giant robots, and hot girls with ridiculously curvy bodies.
