This is the talkback thread for "Shin-Chan Season 2 Part 1": Far From an Abortion.

I'm not up on Shin-chan news, but even though the AS run is over, will FUNi still dub new episodes and release them after Season 2 Part 2 comes out?

I kind of doubt that they'll continue. How many 100+ episode series does Funimation actually release (that aren't just re-releases)? One Piece...and that's about it, if I'm not mistaken. Plus the localization of the dub would only add to the cost of production.

If true, that's unfortunate. Methinks FUNi was biting off more than they could chew when licensing this massive show. Though I do give them points for trying.

Highly unlikely, I have to agree with King Hippo. Shin is finally aborted.

But I would like to see a Season 3 with Miss Katz encountering Pasty Guy Robert, The final three-part Special Lost Episode of the apartment arc, the first appearance of Musae (Musa), Masae's (Marcie's) first appearance (without a mask on) in the episode I call "Two and a Half Women", Pencil Shin-chan, and a season or series finale with Shin having amnesia.

The thing is, even if they had just done a direct translation and dubbed the episodes without much of a rewrite, it would still be a daunting task to try to release all those episodes. But the whole revisioning approach made it even tougher.

And from what I understand, FUNi couldn't even release any potential upcoming sets as sub only either, because they don't have the rights to the Japanese tracks outside of a few exceptions. So they're stuck.

In my observations, unless you get a major commitment from a channel (and by major, I mean four of five years), releasing a long show like Shin Chan is pretty much an impossible battle.
