Toon Zone Talkback - Seth Rogen on 'Monsters vs. Aliens'

This is the talkback thread for Seth Rogen on 'Monsters vs. Aliens'.

An enjoyable read. Its nice to see that he enjoyed voicing B.O.B. I laughed when he mentioned that him and his friend/actor Jason Segel watched Shrek in theaters, even though they were probably were one of the few that weren't children. Should be interesting to see The Simpsons episode he wrote with his writing partner, Evan Goldberg.

The movie is shaping up to be pretty good. It has an all-star voice cast behind it, but then again, this is a DreamWorks Animation movie.

I'm sure it'll do great box-office...but the character designs are so...blah. And the backgrounds look as spare and unimaginative as those for Chicken Little. For that reason I doubt I'll go see this. That, and...well, Seth Rogen and Jason Segal don't exactly float my boat. But that's just me.

The existence of this movie frustrates me. I love the idea. MONSTERS vs. ALIENS. That's the kind of mindless concept I'll pay for! That should just rock on every level!

But dangit, why doesn't it? Why is every joke in the trailers so lame? I wish I was making this instead of Dreamworks.

Funny. People talk that way because of the way the character looks, particularly the hair color. However, I believe that hair color was actually lifted from the character's inspiration, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. From what I've seen of the old movie, the character changes from a brunette to a platinum blonde as she grows to fifty feet in height. Such is also the case with MvsA's Ginormica.

I want to see it because I'm a sucker for classic monster movies and movies that riff on them. However, since they're using '50s sci-fi movie monsters as their inspiration, I kind of wish they had gone with more of a retro 1950s vibe for the art design.
