This is the talkback thread for Saudi Cleric Declares Mickey Mouse and Jerry Should be Killed as "Satan's Soldiers".

Even though we're all amateurs writing for a news site dedicated to cartoons, I take journalistic neutrality pretty seriously as a concept, and really try not to let my own personal opinions creep into my coverage for the news.

The problem is that I'll hit an article like this and, really, there's just no way I can write a headline/title without making it sound like I'm making fun of the news. I don't even think that this news is terribly funny. But sometimes, life seems determined to make reality into a punchline no matter what you try to do to prevent it.

Oh, well. This behind-the-scenes look at writing the news is brought to you by the letters "K" and "T" and the number 5.

What can I say? Odds are we're all thinking the same thing, so I won't preach to the choir about how wrong this is. It's impossible to apply reason to something and someone so deranged.
 
Well, it obviously ties into a religious belief by this Islamic faction that mice are allies of Satan (very understandable). What I don't get is how you "kill" a cartoon character. I guess he's talking about the usual purging of media images.
 
Killing people with TV like that.....my gosh. I can't say how much I hope that dosen't happen. Is that really what our world has come to? :eek: :crying:
