This is the talkback thread for "Romeo X Juliet" Cast/Crew Announced By FUNimation.

Having not seen this show (yet), I have to ask the fans: Are they good casting choices?

What the....Vic isn't in a role? FAIL!

And obviously, I won't know till I see but they seem to fit their characters.

I'm a little suprised to see Brina up as Juliet. I'm sure she can pull it off but doesn't she usually do younger roles?

My biggest beef is with Chris Bevins. He's a capable ADR director and Line Producer, but his acting leaves a lot to be desired. I've seen a large majority of Funimation's productions in one form or another, and have yet to hear anything all that impressive from him, and he was absolutely HORRIBLE in Spiral. To the point of being a major distraction when his character was on screen.

Here's hoping he doesn't butcher my favorite character in Romeo and Juliet.

Also the verdict is out on Chris Burnett. He hasn't really done much, so it could go either way.

My biggest surprise: Larissa Wolcott. I guess she is officially part of the Funi family, after guest starring in Hell Girl.

Chris Burnett? Maxey Whitehead? Good move to add rookies, as well, Funi.

I don't really know the charactes on the show so I have to ask, like Speedy Boris, if this cast is suitable for the characters they play.

I've yet to see the show (though I'm waiting with bated breath), but assuming the spirit of the cast is close to Shakespeare's, Mike McFarland as Tybalt is near-perfect casting insofar as I can see. The Prince of Cats has always been my favorite character.

Oh damn, I see this just now (check the 'RxJ up on FUNi.com thread'). Hilarious.

I just knew Clinkenbeard would get a role, although I had maybe assumed it to be Juliet. Ah well, considering Palencia's current status as FUNi's biggest princess...~

Meh, Clinkenbeard's still the queen, though.

EDIT: The adaptation team for the English scripts...what work have they done before? Maybe FUNi hired Shakesperian majors to do the dialogue?

Ouch. Can you imagine translating and re-writing Japanese into English with accurate iarabic pentameter then trying to fit that into mouth flaps? I'd try to, but I the very idea has me curling into a ball and crying out for my mother.

Wow, Brina Palencia is Juliet. Not complaining though because she's one of my favorite female voice actors. Mike McFarland as Tybalt is a choice I saw come out of nowhere, but Mike has some awesome range so he might be able to pull it off. Should have known J.Michael Tatum would be cast as William.

You suppose this adaption will actually get the core of Romeo and Juliet RIGHT and show that theirs is not some example of "true love" but actually rather fleeting and destructive?

Having seen RomeoxJuliet before, up to a point...
Anyone expecting a completely accurate fantasy retelling of Romeo and Juliet is up for some serious dissapointment.

Don't worry. The anime version doesn't really contain any Shakesperian language since it's whole different version altogether. At least, from what I watched right until the final episode. They do have the "Juliet at the balcony (semi)" scene, but it's different, at the same time.

I hope no one intenRAB to watch RxJ thinking it's an easier way to understand Romeo and Juliet so they can easily pass an English course, because it's faaaaaar from it.

What, Sonny Strait isn't going to play the doctor?
Anyone who's seen R X J knows what I'm talking about...

Thank God that Luci Christian wasn't cast as Juliet. I would've been banging my head against the wall endlessly if that happened.

Oh, and I'll laugh if they start talking in King James' English during the balcony scene and then resume talking in normal English for the rest of the series.

Why? Do you dislike her voice acting or just find her overused? Or both? (for the record, I find her overused, but she almost always does a good job regardless) Based on the clip (which seems to be down for some reason), it sounRAB like they mix old school and normal English pretty seamlessly. Though the clip was only a couple minutes long, so admittedly it's not a lot to go on.
