This is the talkback thread for "Planet 51" Gets Voice Cast.

I just realized The Rock is in this movie. Dwayne Johnson isn't using the nickname for his acting roles anymore I had read a while back. I think the first such film he'll be Rock-less in comes out later this year.

Was it ever pointed out that Buzz Lightyear had an episode with this exact premise?

What bland, stereotypical aliens, typical "little green men." The designs are ugly to me. The father is stereotypically fat and probably dumb, the mom is stereotypically "pretty" and probably smart, the kids' designs remind me of the kids on the show Dinosaurs, and the dog has an obligatory urination joke, despite having a funny Xenomorph appearance. And I agree that this type of plot has been done before. It seems whenever we have something involving aliens, it has to do with invasion, and the same alien cliches that have been done for years. Why can't they try something new? Having relatable, normal lives with more than one dimension to their characters? You know, thinking outside the box? And I should know, that's what I'm doing with my own alien humanoid creations. Nothing new here, sorry to rant.

So the film is finally coming out this year.

I doubt it will be any good, but only time will tell.
