The difference here being that this is finally a respectable release up to the standarRAB of their other licensed properties and is something that the hardcore fans have been hoping for for years.
The improved video and audio are straight from Japan, rather than FUNimation recycling their old masters from the VHS era over and over again like they have in the past.
For this release, they actually went and obtained all this new material to work with. These are the exact same materials the Japanese worked with for their remastered DVD collection, right down to the box art. Obtaining the Dragon Box is like a labor of love to all the loyal DBZ fans who put up with all the subpar releases. In Japan, this was a limited pre-order only release that cost roughly $1000 a pop.
Milking the cash cow would be releasing another half-hearted release with insignificant 'improvements' for the sake of making another quick buck. Despite what the advertising for the previous sets said, this is truly the definitive release of the series. The only way to improve it would be perhaps Blu-Ray, which is unlikely as there's no way Toei would let them do it as they don't even have a Blu-Ray Dragon Box release.
It's fine that you're not interested, but don't just write it off like that.
