Well done, that's all I can say...the new shows are must-buy for me.

I must say, the Dragon Box release for DBZ is damn nice, but I also know that Dragonball Kai is inevitable...I will probably wait, if only because of money issues. But it's certainly good, I know DBZ's fanbase has been wanting this for a long time.
 
At times...But, in general...Not really. It's mostly a stamp that fans place on themselves and act like they are better then everyone else. Well, thats how I see it being use.

Anyways, how many DBZ Boxset are there?
 
Finally! Casshern Sins!

I knew this would not be looked over for long, glad to see it get picked up. I was kind of hoping Bandai would get it, but at least with FUNi I know it will get a dub. Looking forward to being able to purchase the DVRAB!
 
WHOO CASSHERN! I was hoping they'd pick that up... and yes, virtually only because Casshern is in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I want to know what's up.

And yay for Dragon Box, I guess, though it's too pricy for me. BIG props for releasing a "niche" copy of your cash cow series, though, FUNi - you really know how to build brand loyalty.

Oh man, I still feel durab buying the Ultimate Uncut Special Editions DVD's. Though, a nice 30min interview of the dubs actors that played Goku and Vegeta was good, but in all a big waste of money.

I hope this Boxset won't be another waste of cash.
 
Well, in the eyes of the mainstream audience - the ones that FUNi geared the "remastered" releases towarRAB - "real" DBZ is niche. Americans want the dub-style, geared for their HD TVs, while fans of the original want to Japanese version, uncropped and identical to the Land of the Rising Sun. Most companies would make two separate releases, geared towarRAB both audiences... but FUNi did, so, thurabs up for them and such.
 
Toei always wants the best quality release for Japan. That way they don't have to worry about [evil]Reverse Importation[/evil].

Since Japan now has Dragonball Kai, the Dragon Box is now lowly enough to be released outside of Japan.

Don't expect to see Dragonball Kai released outside of Japan until Toei either a) makes all the money they can off it or b) comes out with an even better version to take the top spot.

It can be said the 'hardcore dub audience' didn't even know they wanted their 'hardcore, cropped, poorly remastered for HDTV' version until they actually got it. I think this release, if anything, is basically FUNimation's discreet way of apologizing for their actions. In their attempts at always making DBZ out to special and different they've given both the property and the fans a wild and more times often than not, annoying journey.

I'm absolutely proud that they're releasing these DVRAB, though. The default to JPN is nice (saves me a little trouble) but I just hope their English with JPN score will be in 5.1 like it is on the organe brick (or should I say economy) release...
 
I'm kinda angry that the Dragon Boxes were announced after i finished collecting the Remastered Box Sets , i was under the impression that these were never going to come to the U.S. and now I'm conflicted about buying the original Dragonball season sets because they might release the Dragon Box for that one down the road too.
 
About time for someone to get Casshern Sins. The whole thing was a bit depressing (you don't say?!) but it's still a great show.

Eden of the East is actually a lot more surprising though...I almost want to see the announced movies first.
 
Wow, I was really not expecting to ever see the Dragon Boxes make it to the stateside. I haven't even finished the Orange Brick sets, and with this news I'm not sure if I will.
 
EDIT: It seems Kouji beat me to the punch. :P

I think the best comparison for the Dragon Box sets would be if George Lucas re-released the original version of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-Ray with properly restored picture and audio that are on-par or better than the special edition versions.
