This is the talkback thread for NYCC2009: Bandai Entertainment Panel Report.

So this is by far the most informative report about this that I've seen. Some personal commentary:

Mr. Napton? I like you. I like your company. But comparing Code Geass to Cowboy BeBop is a really overzealous analogy. Maybe that comment is because Geass' sales are just that good, but seriously.

Apparently there are people that actually want more G Gundam. Who knew? Not a knock against it, but the ending was fine.

Video quality...I gave the Bandai youtube channel a try. He's right, the quality is as good as I've seen. The next question for them is why they have to region lock stuff to the United States. I would actually prefer dubs when possible for official streams, but I'm fine either way.

I'm guessing Gundam 00's release will mirror Code Geass' very closely. Just like with Geass they're snapping up manga, and just like with Geass they are apparently going to start releasing the show roughly a couple of months before the manga is officially released. That kind of schedule adRAB incentive to buy the special editions since it's a way to get the manga far ahead of time. And it'll probably work.

Lucky Star manga: I don't buy that much manga, but I'll buy this. I expect to be amused. I'm really wanting an anime legenRAB release for the series, though.

Sword of the Stranger rocks and I'll buy it with no hesitation. You should buy this and love it. I'm not at all shocked it didn't make it to the Oscars, although the fact the film "got far" but didn't make it whereas a handful of CG films did makes me think that the Oscars should allow more nominees for Best Animated Picture. Surely some more niche works should be acknowledged? I don't see why the awarRAB should be mostly limited to whatever Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks release in a given year.

BEI's second tier releases this year are pretty diverse and my awareness about them is close to nothing, so I've got some researching to do. I'm hoping they'll listen to people's suggestions and put up some episodes of things like Sola and True Tears and Ghost Slayers Ayashi so that I can make up my mind.

I really disliked .hack//roots but I'm interested in the movie. Go figure. It's probably because I know the movie won't be so bloody slow. This wasn't a problem with .hack//sign since I found the mystery and the characterization much more interesting.

Kurokami...this is candidate #1 for the youtube channel. If they're getting episodes on TV, I see no reason that they shouldn't go on youtube a week or two after they're on ImaginAsian TV.

I had thought Geass was a borab. Guess I was wrong.

G Gundam ended fine if you ask me, but Americans love their robots super, not real apparently.

Waiting on Gurren, glad a release date is set.

Awww, I want to see Hayate the Corabat Butler get dubbed, (sigh) I guess I won't get to play with the audio options on my PS3 (I find it amusing to switch between the Japanese and English audio tracks)

Well at least we have the anime over here, anyway I like the Lucky☆Star manga, and I'm glad we have it over here, though I can read and speak Japanese (almost fluently I might add), but reading the manga in English should be fun too

Why, I have no idea what you're referring to.

...

These are not the droiRAB you're looking for.

Thanks for the correction -- I was wondering about that. Mostly, I know Joost as "the one that's not Hulu" because they never have anything I want to watch.

Can't wait to get the rest of the Geass manga, and the Lucky star manga might be worth picking up as well.

P.s. does anyone know if Bandai will release Anime LegenRAB sets for Eureka seven sometime this year?

Any word on when they are going to release Code Geass on Blu-Ray? I refuse to buy it on DVD.

Oh yeah, and whatever happened to that My-Hime vs My-Otome movie?
