Toon Zone Talkback - Nick Acquires Rights for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

Exactly! Nick has potential to take a good series and make it better. I like to see Nick taking Action Shows and giving them time and hopefully will air on Nickelodeon and not on Nicktoons Network.

Pretty good, that is a decent representation of Raphael. But isn't this show CGI?

Spideyzilla, a lot of 3D cartoons start as 2D sketches. It's more than likely still going to be 3D. The design is very, shall we say... Turtle Prime looking. Nifty.

So Paulsen is voicing Donatello? That's marvelous because my ideal TMNT series would have Raphael being the loner hot-head and Donatello would be the wise guy while also still being the geek because wise guy geeks are awesome. Paulsen is tremendously talented so whether or not they make Donny a wise guy or just a brainy guy, I'm sure Rob will make the character his own. Too bad for Sam Regal though, since he's in LA now I thought maybe he had a shot at voicing Donny in this one. He was a great Donatello and always will be. Though to those saying Paulsen may not have the voice for Raph, he's done gruff tough guys too but it's not really his specialty at all. For instance his character on the reboot of Biker Mice from Mars which ironically aired on the 4Kids block.

I wouldn't expect to see Barry, Townsand or Cam back at least as the turtles they originally voiced but I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the cast somewhere. Well maybe not Barry, he doesn't really do cartoons anymore. Townsand and Cam do though.

Now let's talk casting in general I'd love to see some folks come back to voice turtles again. Paulsen as Don is awesome. Add to that James Arnold Taylor or Mike Sinterniklaas as Leo, Robbie Rist as Mikey and Nolan North as Raphael.

I know that the new TMNT series won't get Veronica Taylor to reprise her role as April O'Neil from the 2K3 series, since she's primarily a 4Kids voice actress. Too bad, since I personally thought that she was great in the role. I don't know what April will look like design wise, but I hope that her appearance is more 2K3 than 1987 April.

The Nick cartoon is rumored to be a remake of the original series, so I'd expect all the characters to be more similar to the 1987 version than anything else.

They key word there being "rumored", because I haven't heard that from any source. The new series may indeed borrow some elements of the 1987 series, but I doubt that it will be a complete rehash of it. If Nickelodeon just wanted the '87 syndicated series, they could merely acquire the episodes and not bother producing a new series. Keep in mind also that Nick has acquired the 2K3 TMNT series as well.

Furthermore, if the new series was merely going to be an update of the '87 series, then why was Rob Paulsen cast as Donatello rather than Raphael?

Well, he actually DID audition for Shredder again back when 4Kids was casting the 2003 series, so James Avery coming back to the role isn't entirely out of the question...

Well, there goes the idea of another close adaptation to the Mirage comics. But it doesn't matter, Mirage doesn't own TMNT anymore, and cannot suggest something more faithful like they did with the 2K3 series. As is my understanding, the original creators of TMNT didn't like the 87 turtles as much as if it was faithful,

I dunno if this was revealed anywhere else but in my audio interview posted online, but if you DID happen to listen to it, thanks for putting up with the most awkward interview I've ever done

If they want to do some stunt casting, if James Avery has any role, they should get Alfonso Roberio to guest voice, he has done voice over work on Robot Chicken. Or maybe he could even be Baxter. I am sure he can play serious.

Anyway I do hope it is somewhat faithful to the Mirage Comics, but have some originality of their own. Using things from the comics, and all other media that they like and some original ideas would be great. What I would like to see:

April should be a scientist or at least have a sciensist mind, she was Baxter's apprentice.

Another thing, I would love to see Shadow in this series. Though they would have to change her background story being this is Nickelodeon. Born out of wedlock whose mother died giving birth to her, that wouldn't fly on Nickelodeon. She was a baby in the original comics, and a teenager in the time skip volume 4 series. If she was a baby it would get boring quick, and a teenager would be an improvement, but I don't know. I would have her age be a pre teen. She would be some homeless street hustle that Raphel and Casey meet on the street,, than Casey adopts her as his daughter later on.

Maybe it does similar to Angie, but I thought Angie was subsititue for Shadow in the 03 seires, just like Lotus Bloosem was a substitue for Karai in the 87 series.

Also I would like for New York City and maybe even the world to know of the Turtles excistence, and for the general public or at least the adults world to think of them as vigerlantis, similar relationship that Batman has with the public in "The Batman" series.

Other have talked about bring some of the old characters from the original cartoon like Bebop, Rocksteady, the Channel 6 news staff, that is fine with me. But I have another character from the original show to bring back. Zack aka the 5th Turtle. I would bring him back as what he was before, one of the Turtles biggest supporters despite adults saying their vigilantes. I would make his dad a police officer who doesn't want Zack hanging these vigilantes Turtles.

I just said that because I know 4th and 5th graders who watch spongebob but think the turtles are for little kids.

That would be really funny.
