Well, actually that's incorrect. Hasbro is only running half of it (Discovery Communications is running the other half).
Personally, I'm not so sure that would work in the long run. To me, that sounds more like a tribute series who's only purpose is to make references to the previous incarnations of Transformers (G1, Beast Wars/Machines, Car Robot/Robots in Disguise, the "Unicron Trilogy", the live-action movies, and "Animated").
Oh, it was a good idea, but what it sounds like you're suggesting is that the show should be a multi-universe crossover. This presents too much of a possibility for the show to not be a true Transformers production, and instead be sarcasm (as well as being more of a "parental bonus", than a truly "all ages" series; long story). Like, I said before. This new show needs to be its own thing, with its own continuity. A multi-universe tribute would really only work as a one-shot special or something similar.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking your idea. I just think that it would only work in the short term. IMHO, the franchise needs to focus on the long term, and the best way to start would really be to "start over" as I previously said; a show where you wouldn't need to know anything about the franchise in order to get the most out of it.
As for G.I. Joe. Try to understand, the movie is just a generic action film with a recognizable license, concept, and characters. One commercial was all it took to convince me that that was not G.I. Joe. That said, IMO, a series based on that wouldn't really be fair to the franchise, or the viewers. Again, the new series needs to be its own thing, but more importantly, it needs to actually be uniquely G.I. Joe; a show based on a line of military-themed toys. In fact, why not make a show based on the original G.I. Joe* (i.e., the pre-"Real American Hero" era version)? That I think that would be truly unexpected...
*He's considered to be the original "action figure".
