Toon Zone Talkback - NBC Orders "Shrek" and "Kung Fu Panda" Specials

This is the talkback thread for NBC Orders "Shrek" and "Kung Fu Panda" Specials.

Here's hoping that John Lithgow returns as our favorite villain whose life was cut short by the money-making ogre. Also, I guess Kung Fu Panda's special will be more akin to be a Thanksgiving special than that celebrating that and Christmas. I'm surprised that there's no mention of anyone from that film celebrating Chinese New Year. Then again, it comes later than the New Year's celebration here in the states. Anyone looking forward to these specials?

Also, this thread should be in the General Animation Discussion Forum so can anyone assist me with bringing it over there please?

Since the last Shrek holiday special was good, then i feel this one should be good as well. Since Shrek makes sense as a Halloween special.

If Megamind is a hit, will it get its own Holiday special next year?

I also like to see holiday specials for these other Dreamworks CGI movies of the past: Shark Tale, Bee Movie, Over The Hedge, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Halloween one for Shrek could fit, I wonder if it will be like Simpsons' Tree House of Horrors. As for Kung-Fu Panda, I guess this is their Thanksgiving special? Either way, more KFP=More goodness for me.

Ugh.
Seriously? Dreamworks needs to give it a rest. They milk their successful franchises to death until you barely even recognize them.

Who knows? I get the feeling, though, that a Shrek Halloween special now exists to replace the Monsters vs. Aliens Halloween special they aired last year, when that failed to take off as a franchise.

I have still not gotten around to see Kung Fu Panda so no interest in that for me, but the Shrek special sounds interesting. I was looking forward to a reappearance, a cameo, or at least a mention of Lord Farquaad in Shrek Forever After. However, it never appeared. This special looks like it may remedy this loss.

On a slightly related note, I saw Shrek the Musical over the weekend, and I suggest if it comes around to your town, you see it. It was really well-done, with its wonderful music and funny jokes. Also, they give Lord Farquaad an interesting backstory and two villain songs. Not to mention the Dragon's villain song! Again, it was really well-done, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
