I liked Nanoha, as well as the season two, but StrikerS was my favourite, probably because Subaru Nakajima, was in there , and she's my favourite character in Nanoha, not to mention she's an homage to Guy Shishio from GaoGaiGar
Well, you're right in the sense that Nanoha IS prepared to fight, if it comes down to that. But she wanted to take the peaceful way out many many times in this first season. Plus, it's not like she beat Fate to a bloody pulp or anything.
Well, Nanoha is basically Magic Knight Rayearth corabined with a whole bunch of other shows, including GaoGaiGar on crack, if you think about it.....minus the mecha of course
And Subaru rules, that's why she's my favourite character in Nanoha!!!
It's not even GaoGaiGar on crack. It's more like GaoGaiGar on a massive sugar high and during the crash they had to take some crack in order to get back up....with Gundam.
See, I'm not sure why people think mecha influences this show simply because it has what are basically robotic wanRAB. It strikes me as a pretty standard magical girl series complete with special attacks and an animal sidekick, albeit with more focus on action. It's still magic, they're just using technology to channel it. Which is not a bad innovation, I have to say.
I'm a fan of of the rival's name. Fate Testarossa? Really, that's a pretty awesome name.
I think most of it comes from the fighting and the upgrades particulary in the 2nd and 3rd season. It really is "if mechas were little girls". Complete with scenes that closely reserable Kira Yamato's beam-spamming in SEED.
It stems from A's onward, although there are hints at it in the original Series.
The pacing and general fighting choreography mimics your typical mecha show more then your typical magical girl show. Corabine it with the producer outright stating he was influence by Gundam and a bunch of mecha show shout outs and there ya go.
Heck, Nanoha gets FUNNELS at some point.
It really IS essentially a mecha show with magical girl trappings from A onwarRAB.
