Toon Zone Talkback - "Legend of the Guardians" Trailer Online

The story looks a little cliched, but the animation is GORGEOUS. I didn't know Zach Snyder did animation. Impressive something this great looking was made less than two years after he wrapped up Watchmen.

That looks stunning!

Happy Feet didn't look as impressive story-wise, and that wound up suprising me a lot (the animation looked stunning then too). This new flick may be even better than the trailers imply!

There's kind of a "problem" (depending on how you look at it) here. It turns out there are fifteen books in the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" series. CGI or not (animated or not, for that matter), does Warner Bros. plan to use this series to "fill" the perceived "void" that the Harry Potter series will "leave behind"? The books form an ongoing plot (i.e., one that continues in the "next" book).

Either way, I think they're being kind of presumptuous (sp?) in thinking that this could be their next "hit" franchise. Still, after having read a summary of the first three books (which this movie will adapt) on Wikipedia, I think I might give this movie a try, at least.

I saw the trailer for this before Toy Story 3. Multiple CG flicks were advertised, but this was the only one to impress me in any way. The script & story might be cliche, but the animation was fluid & attractive and I at least didn't get a feeling that I was just seeing an old concept recycled. I'll see this simply because it looks like that there was--gasp--actual effort put into making this and making it well. The other trailers pitched their films with punchlines. This trailer felt epic even though it was for a movie about a bunch of talking Owls.

Is it just me, or has the music in this trailer bene used in about 4 other commericals for other things besides this movie recently?

Movie trailers frequently use music either from other movies, or from a trailer house that rents out generic situational music (like the ubiquitous Apocalyptic Choir Of Doom used in so many big fantasy/adventure trailers). It's very rare that a trailer will use music from the actual movie (unless it's a musical), because the score usually isn't recorded until barely a month or so before the movie is released.

Wow.

Just wow.

I usually base my opinions on movies and shows for how I feel about their story and characters. (Since that's usually the most important to me, what's the point of watching if you don't like it?)

But...

The animation here was spectactular! That's a word I don't throw around often, but the animation in this definitely deserves that praise. Great job to Animal Logic's animators. They deserve it.

The 3D of this movie could be incredible. In IMAX? That's just mindblowing.

So yeah, this has caught my interest.

I like owls, my sister likes the books, and I thought it looked great. It was one of the few trailers that looked good so I'll probably go watch it when it comes out.

I've read the bulk of the book series, and I have to say it's pretty good. Fairly deep, but also brutal and meaningful. There were definitely moments in it that were twisted and/or disturbing, though I'm not sure if the movie will incorporate it (of course, at times it can be difficult to avoid).

The animation looks spectacular; I'm planning to see it in 3D when it's released.:)
