Toon Zone Talkback - Kuwait City Getting Cartoon Network Park

Well, as long as they'd be successful. I don't see why they wouldn't have high security incase something happens. Personally, I thought it would be more of a commercial failure than a sight for violent activity, as I didn't realize CN was popular. That, and that a lot of non-violent residents would think twice about going to a US based attraction, when they'd probably rather see something more homebrewed.

Hopefully, they'll have one in other countries if it's that successful.

I didn't mean to be a jerk about the whole terrorist angle. I just don't like the idea of a CN theme park. Unless they would also feature cartoons that were popular during the 90s and during CN's debut, I think the whole thing would be a total waste of money. I'm not trying to shoot the idea down of a CN theme park anywhere. Just knowing CN, I predict it won't be good. I've learned to expect little and almost nothing good from CN for some years now, and my idea that a CN theme park would be a waste is IMHO. If I still expected good things from CN, I would applaud a theme park. However, CN has constantly again and again disappointed me with a barrage of live action movies, obsession with live action, and an apparent bias against cartoons. Since that happened, I have lost faith in CN and anything they may try to attempt. Not being a jerk, just stems out of frustration about how CN is run today. However, it may be interpreted differently by others. But I mean no harm, honestly.

Reads like you were more than just frustrated at Cartoon Network. But, let this convo get back on whichever track it was on (or getting derailed from).

As others have noted, Kuwait is a small country between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and (thanks to oil wealth of the region) is a very wealthy country. As older forum members (apparently myself and two other people :-p) will recall, Kuwait was the site of the first Gulf War back in the far-flung reaches of 1990-91, when the US under President George Bush Sr. went in purportedly to defend the country from an attack by Saddam Hussein. Post-war, Kuwait City's economy has become a regional powerhouse, and has attracted many international businesses (hotels, etc.).

I assume Kuwait's wealth is why there'd be interest in putting a CN park there... except that searching online, there doesn't seem to be an international CN feed serving the Middle East (separate, country-specific Asian feeds of CN include: Japan; India (including Nepal); the Phillippines; and Pakistan). While I suppose, as is the case in Canada and CN not existing there, some of CN's shows might air on the region's local TV networks, I didn't imagine CN's shows would be particularly popular there... and if there's no CN airing there (unless there's plans on trying to start up a regional feed), not sure why the park would be named as such if the brand name would have no value... (shrug).
