Toon Zone Talkback - "Kung Panda" Sequel Moves Up a Week; New Actors Join Cast

An evil peacock, eh? Had to happen sometime. Here's hoping they make him a credible threat rather than some sort of overbearing drama queen.

I don't know if Kung-Fu Panda would have had to worry about Cars 2.
I don't think Cars had much of a fan base as other Pixar films.
Any ways, I'm looking forward to it. The villain sounds intresting.

I agree. I thought that Dreamworks was making the Kung-Fu Panda animated series in lieu of a sequel. I'm concerned that doing both might run the risk of over exposing the characters. I liked the 1st movie, but I would hate to see Kung-Fu Panda go the way of the Shrek franchise and become stale and tired.

Funny, I actually think that it's better that the producers went with a completely different menace this time instead of just bringing back Tai Lung. Po already defeated Tai Lung, to bring him back for the sequel would be a case of "Been there, seen that". I'd personally feel ripped off if the Kung Fu Panda sequel were just a rehashing of the original plot. I'm not saying that Tai Lung should never return, but I think that there should be a significant amount of space before he shows up again.

Of course, the actor playing him also played a human/spider hybrid and an enemy of King Arthur whose most memorable line was "The ogre's butt."

Hence why I said earlier that the title DEFINITELYneeds to change. The title sounds like something you would see in an animated series. Oh wait...

Yeah; even the Nostalgia Critic mentioned how he was too good for the sort of roles priorly mentioned, since he's usually a great actor. Hopefully this role will be good for him and not just another hamfest. :p

Well, so either Tai Lung is not appearing here, or else he would appear and they're just holding out on telling us just to have us speculate whether he could be back or not. Personally? He would be the only reason I'd have for even giving the sequel a chance.

Of course, I would not like seeing him come back in a role like the first one. If he is still alive, he should not be after the Dragon Scroll anymore, if anything he'd want to come back to beat down on Po, but considering all the things going for him that have potential to be explored (the issues with Shifu, Tigress being his adoptive sister, a possible team-up wth Po, etc.), it would be great if Tai Lung returned and joined the good guys to fight the new big bad. If he doesn't come back and it turns out the Wuxi Finger Hold did kill him, then that just turns Po into a smug, cold-blooded killer, meaning that just cements how much I hate him. lol

I guess I can only hope he appears, cause not even the awesome Gary Oldman as the villain would make me watch this movie otherwise.
