Toon Zone Talkback - "King of the Hill" Cancelled

Sigh. It doesn't surprise me, given all the times it's faced near cancellation in its run, not to mention how poor the DVD sales were for them to stop at season 6, but it's still disappointing. While the show didn't always reached the greatness of its first six seasons in its recent years, it still had a lot of well-written, funny plotlines even in its later seasons.

Wonder if the series finale will be Luanne finally having her baby? It better be. She's been pregnant for, like, six years. :p

Wow. So it finally happened, huh?
I really enjoyed the show, it's one of the few American animated series that was down to earth, and had nothing really zany in it.
It had a really good run, and I plan to continue to enjoy when I'm able to afford the DVDs.

KOTH was such an entertaining show, it takes two new shows to replace it. I think that says a lot in its favor.

RIP, KOTH. Here's hoping we'll see an occasional direct-to-DVD premiere or two in the future.

Sad to see this, but all good things must come to an end. I just hope, like everyone else that Luanne finally has that baby of hers before the series ends.

Wow, the improbable run the show has had up to this point is now over.:( Still, 200+ episodes for a show that was never as popular as its other FOX contemporaries is nothing short of amazing. Especially since like Futurama, it was one of those shows that was constantly preempted by football when it used to be on at 7:30 PM.

I thought it was amusing that when Cynopsis posted this news, they said this:

I guess if one of the new animated shows fails to take off, I wouldn't be surprised if FOX bring it back again.

I was thinking that they should probably consider putting out a complete series sets instead, but they probably won't if the DVD sales were so poor like you said.

Your statement made me realize that once this show goes, this might be the last sitcom for a while to have a main male character that's not an idiot.

So at the end of the 2008-2009 King of the Hill will be gone.

How many more seasons do The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad, and Family Guy have in their contracts?

With the news about King of the Hill's cancelation, I'm starting to think about the Simpsons and South Park and how those two shows have gotten somewhat stale in recent years. Hence, KotH's cancelation could be a good thing, as it prevents it from falling victim to "running out of ideas" come the show's later seasons.

Too bad this show's getting canned, especially since, like someone pointed out, it featured the one main male character who wasn't an idiot. That was pretty refreshing for a Fox cartoon.

Agreed, of course KOTH aged better then Simpsons or South Park and even Family Guy. it managed to keep more of a consistent quality. The quality has dropped but no where near as much as some others.

I think this one's for real. Unlike the other cancellations, they actually have something to replace it with.

I'm gonna miss this show -- I can't see anything like it being greenlit today.

Since KOTH has never been the ratings hit or the merchandising hit The Simpsons and Family Guy have been, this was probably inevitable.

At least, KOTH won't drag on as a pale shadow of itself.

MIke Judge is producing a new show after this one's cancellation, "The Goode Family". Maybe we'll get to see some of KOTH's cast on it. I mean, they both have the same art styles...

R.I.P. KOTH. You had a good run.:crying:

Futon Critic expects the 13th Cycle to air 09-10, so don't fret too much

This was a long time coming IMO, but KotH was a great show, and It will be replaced by another very popular Family Guy spinoff of Hebert the Creepy Old Pedephile

I don't know, at the point in The Simpsons' run that King of the Hill is currently at, the show had only continued to lower in quality, while KOTH is still making gold.

I'll surely miss it, but I saw it coming as soon as I heard about The Goode Family getting green-lighted. Here's to one of the most enjoyable animated series of the past 11 years. And to think, this coming month, it'll top Rugrats' record as the second-longest running American animated series of all time. Well, good luck to South Park to taking that title now.
