Toon Zone Talkback - "It's the Easter Beagle Charlier Brown" 3/18, 8pm on ABC

I woulda missed it too. And it was paired up with that hideous Peek-A-Boo show, "Just for Laughs" isntead of a Winne the Pooh special or Lucy must be Traded or something that actually fits with it.

But I always did like this one. One of the more underrated Peanuts specials. How many choppy edits did this one have, I really wasn't paying attention, since I was doing something else.

Aside from speeding through the credits like every other channel does with everything, even though it looked like they weren't going to do that for a moment, I think that they cut out the scene where Lucy is talking to Schroeder about how Easter is the "gift getting" season instead of the giving season. I might have just missed it when I was talking to my mom.

I was lucky enough to catch this special. I actually thought that it was on CBS, not ABC, for some reason. I'm glad that I did see it since it is always wonderful to catch a Peanuts special. It felt funny to see Marcie trying to figure out what to do with those eggs. And Snoopy dancing with bunny rabbits and then giving the Easter eggs to all the boys and girls, except for poor Charlie Brown, was classic. A fun and quite enjoyable special.

One of these days, I'll have to get the classic holiday specials, like this one, on DVD. I should also watch one of my old Peanut movies one of these days since I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for the days of where I would watch Peanut movies every weekend. I was, and still am, a huge Peanuts fan and it would be nice to watch something like Snoopy Come Home again.

In Portland they actually ran an infomercial after it.

I always forget this is on every year it appears, and I almost forgot this time as well, but I remembered ten minutes into it. I used to have the picture book based on this special. What I always loved most was the scene where Snoopy looks inside Woodstock's birdhouse and sees this fully furnished cornucopia of expensive-looking furniture and appliances. He tries to get in himself, gets his nose stuck and wrecks the birdhouse.

This might be the first time I've seen it in animated form. I love these old 70's Peanuts specials, with their soft primitive proto-synth scores that sound like a watch alarm in an echo-y hallway. For the full effect, I should have been watching this in a shag-carpeted den on a heavy woodgrained TV with dials for controls, but I have neither.
