Toon Zone Talkback - FUNimation to Release "Guardians of Luna"

They probably couldn't find an interested party especially considering the fairly dark and serialized nature of the story. It probably went to areas too dark for Nickelodeon.

As for Cartoon Network, the channel's made it clear they won't treat with respect anything they don't have merch interest in. I have no doubts the show's pitch was probably rejected out of hand.

Disney XD it's probably too dark for as well and the low availability of the station probably doesn't justify production costs.

So this was probably the best they could do.

Well, I for one am quite pleased; I've been intrigued about this series ever since I heard about it, and despite the revamp I'll be interested to see where it ends up.

Well I'm glad it's still coming because it looked really great but I'm dissappointed it'll just be a movie. Though maybe if it does well in sales they'll make more.

FUNimation will probably be doing a great deal more of this kind of project now that they have set up a branch within to handle these things.

I honestly tought no one would take this project. An edgy and dark cartoon with today?s bland standars? only in the 90s maybe.

Good for the creative team.

First time I heard about this project sounds cool kinda wished the Werewolves looked more badass instead of looking like there posing for a romance novel.

To bad it couldn't get sold to a tv deal but networks dont want action toons with drama or continity especially Cartoon Network.

They are definitely not hiding the anime influence in that shot, it looks like something that could be running in Japan right now. The designs look slightly generic but they're stylish enough, easy on the eyes. I hope the film does well, I think this is unofficially FUNimation's first experiment in original programming even though they only picked it up like a licensor, and if this show does well they could commission more projects in the future.

Who is animating this movie, again? For some reason I keep thinking it's Madhouse but I don't know.

Again, it's a bit of a shame this didn't get picked up for whatever reason, but maybe if the movie does well we could get something on a grander scale than a DTV.

The fact this kind of programming can't find a TV audience is disheartening. I guess if it doesn't involve superheroes from popular movies or kid-based comedies, networks just aren't interested.

I guess that's good news for those who know what the series is about or how long its been in development.

Seriously, that link doesn't have a basic summary of the movie or anything, so I think I'll wait before anticipating this film.
