This is the talkback thread for FUNimation Announces New August Titles Including "Big Windup!".

Plenty to choose from, as usual.

You know, it makes me wonder. Why are all of the other 13 episode sets FUNi is releasing more expensive than the One Piece sets? Maybe it's just because One Piece is such a long series.

The first 3 Slayers seasons? I think this sounRAB like a cool idea.

Anyone else find it weird that season 3 (I won't buy it, it only has 8 episodes) of UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie is released by FUNi instead of ADV, like in the first 2 seasons?

And, of course, Higurashi. (sigh) Sorry, I kinda don't like the dub much, and I've already see every episode at least twice, so, sorry.

I'll be continuing earlier collecting with Gunslinger Girl Season 2, One Piece Second Voyage Part 2, and Romeo X Juliet Part 2.

That's because ADV lost the rights to season 3 and the OVA when they broke their partnership with Sojitz. FUNi picked it up along with the other 30 titles ADV lost last year.

It's funny that Welcome to the NHK had two box sets and now Funi wants to sell them all in one box set. They should've thought about that the first time they brought the series to DVD after acquiring it from ADV Films.

I might just think about buying the box sets that are out now for that series since I bet they're cheaper than the BIG boxset this summer and One Piece Second Voyage: Part Two.

Romeo X Juliet seems pretty interesting, but if they condensed the NHK sets into one, they'll probably do the same with this. So, I'll wait.

I also remeraber someone say Slayers was good... Any comments on that?

Sweet, One Piece's release confirmed and such. Definitely picking that up.

...and I'm going to get Big Windup! at SOME point, I'm just not sure when. Maybe when RightStuf has a FUNi sale or something.

The only way im paying 60$ for half a season of big windup is if it comes with something extra or with better than thinpack packaging, its just not worth 60$, I dont know what funimation is thinking.

Same with FMP (remastered). Why remaster it? its a new anime, it doesnt need a remaster, especially if your releasing it on Blue-Ray, whats the point? (and its probably going to be thinpack packaging, which is worse than the older release)

Ill get one piece and devil may cry.

WAIT, they are finally releasing when they cry? oh wait..70$..never mind.

The show is VERY good, its got a adventure/magic feel of the show that just makes it amazing, and the characters are great. The collection is worth it, I picked up the other releases, but this is a great time to get them on dvd.

Finally might get NHK.

Gunslinger Girl Season 2 is a likely purchase for me. I've heard disappointing things, but also some positives. I've been waiting on seeing it dubbed since the dub cast is so good.

I also think that the series is well-done and worth taking a look at. As Yusuke Urameshi mentioned, the Slayers series has a great magical adventure feel to it and it has some great humor. I also thought that the cast of main characters had great chemistry and interactions with each other. I have the other sets, but I think that it's a good idea to at least rent this full collection set if you want to see if you like Slayers too.

I was kind of surprised that they released all three of the Slayers series in one set. I hope that this means that FUNimation will announce something about the new series sometime in the not too distant future. I think I'll buy One Piece, Season two part two, but I may rent Romeo X Juliet as well.
