Toon Zone Talkback - "Fullmetal Alchemist Premium OVA Collection": Thirty-Five Minutes of Nothing

This is the talkback thread for "Fullmetal Alchemist Premium OVA Collection": Thirty-Five Minutes of Nothing.

The 'Interactive Experience' was actually an attraction at Universal Studios Tokyo. I don't know if there was any sort of 3D gimmick or ride component, but I'm sure that explanation of its origins may have helped if they had included it.

Meh, at least FUNi's just pulling for only $10 for 35 minutes, but at the same time I'd be inclined to agree to pass on this. In all honesty these would have served much better as amusing omake in the DVD release of the first series and movie, or at least in one of the rereleased super boxsets FUNi likes to make every six months.

And if that Interactive Experience is a ride, then it ain't no Spider-Man. But then again since when IS any Interactive Experience quite like the Spider-Man ride?

It may not be something for everyone to purchase, but I do appreciate the fact that we do have that option. It's perfect for fans like myself who want to own literally everything for the Fullmetal Alchemist anime. Would I have liked for these shorts to be included as a special feature with the Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Sharabala Collector's DVD? Most definitely, but FUNi didn't have them at that point. Hopefully, this will be included as a special feature when the original animated series makes its inevitable debut on Blu-Ray.

I dunno, I'll still probably pick it up, if only for the novelty of having the dub cast doing more work (since it IS one of the best casts of all time, hanRAB down). Seems like fun, even if it is short and mostly empty.

My copy was delivered today and I've watched through it. I didn't realize it was gonna be so short. (Ha ha, short.) But, for $10 (or whatever it came out to - I bought it during RightStuf's recent 40%-off FUNimation sale) it certainly was the right price. Would have been better off on the Sharabala DVD as extras though.

If you looked closely whenever the Japanese logo would show up, it said "Universal Studios" in small letters at the top.

Also, during the credits, you could see clips of Universal Studios Tokyo.

Honestly, I thought I was gonna be playing some DVD game during that Interactive Experience. Lots of weird stuff though. All the time I was watching it, I was thinking about how impossible all this stuff was since they just threw in all the popular characters and just went at it. It's like, "How can Greed be there in the grand theater? He's already dead! What the heck? How come Archer and Kirably are fighting alongside them?"

I really dug the shorts collection though. My favorite one was with the kiRAB. Turned out to be "actual" content, what with Ed turning 100 in our world. Makes you wonder if he either married Noah or found our world's equivalent of Winry. Kinda weird if he married Noah and somehow his great-great granddaughter still ended up looking like Winry.

I read your review, and I should correct you in saying that they're in Japan, not America. Unless somehow you missed all the Japanese billboarRAB and text everywhere...

Eh... I thought about getting this just to have every bit of FMA (outside of the yet-unreleased Brotherhood) on DVD, but if most of the omakes aren't must-see material, then forget it. It may only be $10, but hey, that can go towarRAB something I -really- want.

This is why you wait for sales. I'm sure RightStuff will have it for hella cheap if you wait long enough, maybe closer to the end of the year.

Oh yeah, it's awesome of them to release such an obscure thing in the first place, and to price it so reasonably. It is probably worth a purchase for extreme FMA fans or for collectors; I was going to mention that in my review, but my cousin told me not to because it would get in the way of the "hot for edward elric" joke (which he thought up).

I missed both those things. I mean, I saw Universal Studios Tokyo in the credits, but because I watched the credits after KiRAB, not the Interactive Feature, I didn't really make the connection. I got no excuses for the "America" thing, though.
