Toon Zone Talkback - "Fox Developing Napoleon Dynamite Animated Series"

This is the talkback thread for "Fox Developing Napoleon Dynamite Animated Series

HELL. YEAH.

This is going to be most likely awesome. Hope the art style is good.

With that, the other two shows, and the apparent 4th MacFarlane series... wow. I don't know how they'll be able to fit that all in one night.. we might end up needing two Animation Dominations.

If American Dad were to keep going, Animation Domination would need to begin at 6:00PM. Which I'm not sure would be a good idea or not.

I think I might had made another thread for this topic. If that's the case, can someone close it please? I'll repeat what I said in the second version of the thread and say that I don't know how long some of these animated shows will last. Hopefully they won't end up like Sit Down, Shut Up and will be able to hold out through this Fall season.

Uhhh Neighbors from Hell is a TBS production. The article linked in the news doesn't even mention it.

Also, it seems like it's 5 years too late for a Dynamite series. That ship sailed long ago and there's zero want or need for such a product now. If by some off-chance FOX is foolish enough to air it, it'll be gone rather quickly.

For once, I agree with Hazuda. I liked the movie, but they should've struck while the iron was hot.

Makes sense to make it animated though. The original actors are too old to play high school kids now and they probably can't keep renting out the original locations anymore.

I'll probably still give it a show, but if it turns out to be the same recycled jokes repeated like in the merchandise, I'm out.

I agree that this shows' producers waited too long to bust out with a Napoleon Dynamite series. The time to have done that would have been a year or 2 after the movie was released, while ND was still relevant. Also, it's likely that this series will receive the red headed stepchild treatment from FOX, since it's not about a family (and before anyone mentions King of the Hill, that series had a prominent domestic element).

I have to agree with others' initial skepticism here; Napoleon Dynamite isn't a hot property anymore and I doubt Fox will show this series much love since it's not a domestic comedy.

My guess is that if Fox does go ahead and air this, it'll get yanked off the air after its' initial chunk of episodes, then get pulled from Animation Domination and later turn up on [adult swim] or Comedy Central.

I guess they think they have the material for a cartoon, so....

On the list of movies I think would make good cartoons, this is way down there next to "The World According to Garp."

And Fox seems like such an odd network for this to go.
You'd think it would be more at home on Comedy Central, Adult Swim, Spike, or, this may sound crazy, MTv.

Ugh, god please no.

Ok, I am ok with this, as it means Seth Mcfarlene will not be Dominating Animation Domination. But why Napolean Dynamite? I always thought of it as a fad. I thjink it is a bit past that fad.

But who knows, maybe fox could bring the fad back. But please do not get rid of American Dad, it was quite good.

I have to agree what Dr.Pepper says, but I'm just going to watch this since it would be better than anything Seth related{in my own view though} But I was hoping some original material though.

Oh god no the movie sucked and now they're making a show off of it like 6 years later

It did come out 5 1/2 years ago, but people still know of the movie and it still has popularity.

I won't be surprised at all if Comedy Central airs reruns of it after a while.

Does it really? Because I haven't heard anyone talk about ND recently, except for the odd quoted line every now and then.

Especially after FOX pulls the show from it's prime time lineup after about a month and it's relegated to airing only on Saturdays at midnight. :p

THANK YOU!! God I thought I was the only one who didn't like that movie! One of my friend was all crazy about it but it sucked big time!

I really never got what made it so popular in the first place.

Because it's the awesomeness.

And it has a crazy, random and offbeat humor that mocks an assortment of cliches' (Internet dating, geeky artist, leeching uncle) that sort of thing.

But really, because it's the awesomeness. ;)
