Toon Zone Talkback - Former WB Voice Actor Greg Burson Dies at Age 59

Looking at his imdb profile, he doesn't appear to have anything listed after 2004, which is when he was apparently arrested.

I had no idea he was an alcoholic, but then I can't say I follow VAs' private lives, so...

He always did a fine Fudd. Probably my favorite line of his on Tiny Toons was: "Thanks for fixing my sacroriliac, Hamton. My regular chiropractor was on vacation. No thanks to YOU, duck!" RIP Greg.

Greg was once an active member of The Voice Actor Appreciation Group I host--he joined daily discussions and was always quick to offer advice and answer industry-related questions. I had the chance to meet him in person at Comic-Con about a year after he joined the group. He was very friendly and gracious and offered me some tips/techniques on doing impressions (he was one of the best mimics in the biz) which I still use today.

I could sense an emptiness in his life just by one of his last posts to the group, in which he inquired about trying to find a woman "interested in dating and possibly more in the L.A. area."

Following the May 2004 incident, I heard a number of stories from others he worked with about his battle with alcoholism. And it's a tragedy to lose someone to alcohol who was so talented and generous as he was. And even though I barely knew him personally, considering the email conversations I had with him and that he was a member of a community I started, I feel like I lost a friend.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be missed.

And I normally don't actively plug the VA group I host, but if anyone would like to read the things he posted or see a couple pictures I took of him from Mark Evanier's Cartoon Voices Panel, you'll find them through the link below:

It's unbelieveable! Greg Burson could've had a very prosperous career in cartoon voice-over work, especially as Yogi Bear, Elmer Fudd, among others, but obviously, his bout with alcoholism did him in, not only with his 2004 arrest for kidnapping, inducing panic and disorderly intoxication(he even had guns in his possession), but also with health problems, due to diabetes. May he rest in peace, but Yogi Bear, Elmer Fudd and other characters Greg Burson voiced will live on through the likes of Bill Farmer, Rob Paulsen, Billy West, Jeff Bergman and Joe Alaskey.
