Toon Zone Talkback - "Family Guy's" Cleveland Will Get His Own Show

This is a bad idea. Of all the characters to make a spin-off, they had to pick Cleveland?
Hopefully the story will focus on him during a time before he met Peter and the others, introduce new characters, and have his son appear again.

This just proves that anyone who made a hit show before (heck, anyone famous in the industry), can pitch anything and get it produced no matter how bad it is.

I'm honestly the only one here that thinks that a bland character is a much better candidate for a spin off than a walking talking catchphrase? I mean, a Quagmire, Cleavland adventures series would work, but I feel there hasn't been too much character exploration except for the turn of evens after his wife cheated on him. We got subtle hints that he wants to be the passive one in the relationship- In one episode he stated his perfect woman is Margeret Thatcher, because he finds power sexy. I can see quite a lot happening in a series due to that quirk alone. Plus, there's just so much of the character to reveal. Only other spinoff I'd like is a Joe in the police force cartoon. That would have the potential to make fun of 1970's and 80's cop shows.

Though I agree. Focus on making Family Guy better before you spin someone off.

The Boondocks is cancelled?

To top this coming out, King of the Hill's also likely on it's last season. So now we lose 1 great comedy, keep two dried-up ones, and get a potentially weak spin-off. Thank god for American Dad!

Well, as everyone knows, Seth-created things now have a lot of clout at Fox, so the "Cleveland" series is almost a 13-episode done deal.

But the other two pilots are still in consideration and could also be produced. I think everyone on this board knows which of these two they'd pick.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't greenlight The Pitts, Fox! PLEASE!!

Is this for real or is someone making me look like a fool?

Mike Henry definatly deserves his own series. Clevland does not.

You know what they should do, they should make "The Clevland and Quagmire Show!". However, That would make 3 series Seth Macfarlene would be working on in dual roles(he's going to write for Clevland Show), and that would probably be way too much work for him.

BTW, I think we should all be happy that Mike Henry's other character wasn't picked for a spinoff (Herbert)

and Darklordaviator, 2 Episodes weren't aired and it hasn't been announced it was renewed (It prolly will though)

But honestly, this sounds a lot better than King of the Hill, which should've been cancelled ages ago

I think the fat kid is Cleveland Jr.

I heard he didn't take his parents' divorce well, but man.

Gorging yourself on Krispy Kreme is never the answer. :ack:

Well it's at least alot better at what I thought at first. I thought he commited suicide. Then I thought Loretta took him.

Though it does look like he damaged his eyesight since now he is wearing glasses.

I'm not thaaattt fond of the baby's voice, but you know, voices are pretty much the only thing I can judge from this.

Peter's "Forming a Brady Bunch." line made me giggle so much.

He's the same height as Stewie, therefore, first word that comes to mind when describing him is baby. Toddler, baby, at least people know who I'm referring to.

Hey, Brian is a talking dog, but I don't have to call him an anthro everytime.

Wow, the animation is very stiff, even for Family Guy.

Some funny lines here and there, though. I liked Cleveland's comment about them not paying Seth MacFarlene enough money to do the voice of the other character for the promo.

I think we'll have to wait and see on this one. The clip was funny, but it's still way to early to tell. All we have right now is the premise and some sketchy details on the characters (the bear's voice is kind of annoying though). I'm interested to see how this show compares to the PJs. A similar genre of comedy and a fairly similar situation.

I'm 99% sure they took existing footage and reanimated the mouths. I think the only finished animation they've done for the Cleveland Show so far is those character bios.

Judging from the brief title sequence they showed, which looked like it was squished to match the rest of the footage, is it possible this show will be in HD?
