Eh... special features or not, it's still not worth the money.
It's almost scary how badly this show is milked. What's even worse is that people actually buy into this stuff (because if they didn't, FOX wouldn't even bother making it). $15 for ONE episode, a table read, and some songs? Pass, pass, and PASS again.
I couldn't agree more. I work too hard for my money to go and throw away $10 on one episode. I thought that it was at least going to be a feature length episode, but then I read the back of the box and it says 23 minutes! No thank you.
I got it for free from a friend who was done with it. The episode wasn't that great but it was enjoyable for the most part 7/10. I did enjoy watching the Seth and Alex special again though.
For $10 I got an episode I didn't already have on DVD, an audio commentary, an animatic, a live reading, some songs and an excuse to finally remove the "Almost Live" special from my DV-R. So I'm happy.
They should have included it on the Volume 9 DVD and stuck "Never before seen episode" stickers, which would have boosted the sales of the Volume 9 DVD.
I wouldn't buy a 10+ dollar DVD with special features and one episode for any of my favorite shows. Even if the features are good it's still not enough bang for my buck.
I'm sick and tired of these cash-cow DVD's e.g. the FG star wars specials and Seth's Cavalcade. The Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, American Dad and The Cleveland Show doesn't have any of these types of DVD's.
How exactly are the Star Wars specials "cash cow" DVDs? Especially "Darkside" which was released in HD, was longer than the broadcast version, was released about 6 months earlier than the broadcast version and had a bunch of extras. And how is "Cavalcade" (which I agree was awful) a knock against Family Guy?
"Partial Terms" is really the only Family Guy DVD like this. They've also done some "best of" DVDs, but Simpsons and Futurama have also done those. It's not like Spongebob, where they release a DVD every time a special episode is aired on top of the season sets they still do. That's ridiculous. Making one DVD that cashes in on an episode that was "banned" from TV is really no big deal.
To be fair, those SpongeBob specials are usually released with 3-6 bonus episodes and are practically aimed for the busy mother unlike the season sets.
Wasn't this episode uploaded on Hulu or Adult Swim Video btw?
MEH. Just buy the whole season from Amazon, it would be much more worthy of your money, it's not like the extra bits will be of high value
If I was going to spend this much money on something, I'd rather buy myself a PC RPG DVD rom
As of right now this is the only way to get the episode because the 2nd half of season 8 hasn't been released on DVD yet. The extra bits may not be of high value to you, but some people will find them interesting and pretty cool, such as seeing the cast do a live reading.
Blue Harvest was because it was released 4 months after it aired and it could have easily been on a Volume DVD set . And the partial terms main feature is a 23 min ep of FG (HARDLY worth its price) yes there are features but they're still not worth it and with the other show specials they're not over promoted like partial terms.
