Toon Zone Talkback - DreamWorks' "Oobermind" Retitled to "MegaMind"

Wait, they seriously altered the plot this late in production? This movie is going through so many changes that I have no idea what will be left by the time it is released. :p

Of course I'll give this movie a chance, but I'll be surprised if I like it as much as I did The Incredibles. Then again this looks like more of a comedy, and The Incredibles was more action with comedy bits that were small yet hugely satisfying.

But I like surprises, so I hope this movie does do well.

The only thing that really makes this film stand apart is the cast that they've assembled... and honestly, I'm not impressed.

Will Farrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey... it just sounds so cliche and desperate. It's pretty much like their big selling point to the public; "Hey everybody, look who we've got in our movie! Come see it for that very reason!".

Given that this is Dreamworks (and, for the most part, I find them to be lame), I'm not really all that interested in seeing it myself. It doesn't look very good to me.

I've heard around the net about two different versions of this movie, so what is the actual final synopsis? A villain who has to become the hero? Or what happens after the villain destroys the hero? Or a combination of both?

spoil alert?

I heard that the original plot was that Oobermind kills Metroman and then has to figure out what to do with himself with no hero to fight. That would have been a somewhat original plot, so it looks like Dreamworks didn't like it.

Now it has a worse title and is a less original "bad guy turns good" tale.

And I really wish Dreamworks would make a different animation style already. The Tina Fey character is especially poor.

Yeah. In that new trailer I was surprised to see he's still alive. Maybe he was cloned or something.
I was originally looking forward to this. Now, I'm not.

It says that there are slight spoilers in it.

Anyways, I want to give the actual reason why I think this killed all my interest. Simply put, I feel lied to. The plot synopsis they sent out said Metro Man dies, and that gave me a lot of interest as I love dark comedies and that was a twist surprisingly not made by now. However, since he apparently lives and becomes a hippie (no offense meant,) I'm just going to guess this is a typical "fake my death to get out of my job" plot with Metro Man, which is absolutely a major step down from him dying and MegaMind having to deal with the boredom caused his finally won battle. That said, I will probably still go see this movie, as I run a monthly movie club at my high school and this is the best pick for November.

I was confused when I saw
Metroman still alive. I thought that he died.
Did they change the plot?

This looks like a "meh" movie, that I might go and see if there is nothing better to do.
