This is the talkback thread for "Dragonaut" English Cast List Announced.

Having not seen the show, the inevitable question: Good choices? Bad choices?

Ugggh, why did this show have to get licensed? It is literally the worst anime I've ever seen (and I forced myself to finish Gundam SEED Destiny) This is what made people start to hate Gonzo too.

Anyway, I'd say Sabat as Gio as 100% perfect and I've never heard of Justin Pate but he usually does minor one-shot characters according to his ANN page so this is his first major role I think. Colleen seems good as Toa, though I think her voice is a bit mature for that role (minus the whole Luffy thing)

(I will say though, it has a very good OP song)

Yeah, that OP definitely makes it look a lot better than you say it is. The worst anime ever? What makes you say that? And yet you don't hate it so much you can still be happy about the casting? I've never seen it, so I don't know if I should check it out or not, but even with the good OP and supposed good casting, I'm not too big on buying series people call the "worst ever".

Reason #1-Overkill fanservice

Reason #2-THIS GUY! Otherwise known as the biggest (insert expletive) I've ever seen in anime, Kazuki

Reason #3-A suprisingly high amount of animation screwups, for example, this one that makes Gio look like Exia Gundam

Regardless, about the dubbing, I'm happy about the choices because despite my feelings about the show, I like to still look for quality in the acting for the people who buy the stuff. Plus, it shows that they actually, you know, put effort into casting. I mean, I'm not going to buy it or anything even though I only got 20 episodes in before I was like "I can't take this anymore" but it's good for people who want to.

I dunno. From what I've seen of this show I found it better than Linebarrels of Iron. Then again, that's not saying a lot.

Other than Justin Pate I noticed they rounded out the cast with FUNi vets almost exclusively. When FUNi does that they are hoping an A-level dub (along with script rewrites) will make a mediocre show seem better, which actually works a lot (Tsubasa, Trinity Blood).

Well you can't judge a series by 3 screenshots, but it sure looks bad based on those. Even if the casting is good, I'm sure I'll find better things to spend my money on for long enough that I'll have forgotten this was ever released.
